T 0 all whom it may concern Be it known that I, ARON RAUoi-I, a citizen of the United States, and residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in lVeaving-Frames for Hair Goods, of which the following is a specification, such as will enable those skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use-the same.

The object of my present invention is to provide a weaving frame for use in connection with human hair and which is adapted for use by hair dressers and others, a further object being to provide a weaving frame of the class described which can be readily adjusted for varying conditions of use, and can be easily applied to a table, stand, or other convenient support.

A still further object of this invention is to provide a frame for weaving hair in connection with which thread carried on ordinary spools can be employed, and by which hair goods of any desired length may be woven, this being made possible by providing a revoluble head or extension on one frame member, and also by reason of a construction which permits the user to take up or adjust the several threads to keep the same of uniform tension.

To these ends, and to such others as the invention may pertain, the same consists, further, in a novel construction, combination, and adaptation of the parts, as will be hereinafter more fully described and then specifically defined in the appended claim.

I clearly illustrate my invention in the accompanying drawings which form a part of this specification, and in which drawings similar letters of reference indicate like parts throughout the several views, in which Figure 1 is a side elevation partly in section showing my improved hair weaving frame in operative position, and Fig. 2 is an enlarged section of a detail of the construction.

In the practice of my invention, 1 provide a suitable support 1 such as a stand or table on which is secured, in an upright position, a spool frame member 2 the securing means being shown as an angle plate 3 and bolt 4 which passes upwardly through the support 1 and through one arm of the angle plate and is provided with a nut 5, the other arm of the angle plate being secured to the spool provided at the top of the frame member 2 for the use of the operator.

In order to enable the operator to weave hair goods of unusual length, I provide an adjustable frame member 14 having at the bottom thereof an angle plate '14 fixed thereto and the free armof which is adapted to rest on the support 1 and be adjustably secured thereto in any desired manner, as by the clamp '15, and the upper part of the frame member 14: is provided with a guide and retaining deviceconsisting, in the form of construction shown, of. an eyescrew 16, and said frame member 14 is further provided with a revoluble head sleeve or extension 17 having an attaching device consisting, in the form of construction shown, of an eye-screw 18. The head sleeve 17 is loosely mounted on a vertical pin or bolt 19 secured in the frame member 14, and a thimble 20 may be carried on the upper part of the pin or bolt 19 for the use of the operator, and the frame member 14 is further provided with pins 21 on which surplus spools 22 may be supported. 2

- In the operation of weaving hair goods of unusual length on my improved frame, I mount a plurality of ordinary spools 23 on the pin bolts 8 and pass the threads 2-1 thereof through the guide loops 12 and over to the adjusting frame 14 and connectthe ends of said threads with the loop or eye 18 on the head sleeve 17" as shown in dotted lines. The head sleeve 17 is then preferably turned one or more times to wind said threads thereon after which an intermediate portion of said threads is hooked over the shank of the loop or eye 18 and then carried down and passed beneath the loop or eye 16 as shown in the drawing. The spools 23 are then turned backwardly to tighten up on the threads 24 and when a uniform tension is obtained on all the threads 24 the wing nuts 11 are fastened down on the ends of the spools and the frame is ready for the Weavand after the operator has filled the space between the frame members, the wing nuts 11 are loosened and the threads are detached from the loop or eye 16and the head sleeve 17 is turned so as to wind said threads and the Woven :product thereon, after which the said threads are again passedover the loop or eye 18 and again down and around the shank of the loop or eye 16, after which the,

threads between the frame members are again tightened by operating the spools 23 as hereinbefore described and the process of Weaving is continued. I I

When it is desired to Weave only a short length, the threads 24 are passed directly to the loop or eye 16 and secured thereto, or therein after which the weaving operation is performed, as will be readily understood.
