and useful Toy; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the inventlon, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to the art of games and toys, and particularly to an improved toy comprising two balls, one considerably smaller than the other, the larger ball being provided with a spirally arranged groove, the ends of which terminate at diametrically opposite poles of the ball, and the object of this improved toy consists in rolling the smaller ball in said groove about the larger ball, from one terminal of the groove to the other, without allowing the smaller ball to become displaced. To accomplish this feat, half of the groove of the larger ball has its bottom on one side, so that when starting the smaller ball at the upper terminal of the groove, the smaller ball will roll gradually in its groove for half its length, and the other half of the groove has its bottom upon the opposite side, so that when reversing the larger ball, the smaller ball will roll in the groove for its other half, and in rolling this other half, the smaller ball travels up-grade, to reach the opposite terminal of the groove. It is to be noted that in rolling the smaller ball about the larger ball, the smaller ball travels downwardly for one-half of the length of the groove, and in traveling the other half the smaller ball moves upgrade.

In practical fields the details of construction may necessitate alterations, falling within the scope of what is claimed.

The invention comprises further features and combination of parts, as hereinafter set forth, shown in the drawings and claimed.

In the drawings :'--Figure 1 is a view in perspective, of the larger ball showing the smaller ball starting to roll from the terminal of the groove and downwardly thereof. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the larger ball showing the smaller ball having traveled one-half the length of the groove of the larger ball, Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the larger ball showing the same being twisted so that the smaller ballwill pass transversely from the bottom of half of the groove to the bottom of the opposite half thereof, so that the smaller ball may travel in the other half on an upgrade to the opposite terminal. Fig. 4: is a perspective view showing the smaller ball on its way toward theopposite terminal. Fig. 5 is a sectional view, which is out transversely of the groove of the ball.

Referring more especially to the drawings, 1 designates the larger ball having a spirally arranged groove 2, the opposite ends of which terminate at diametrically opposite poles of the ball, as shown at 3 and 4. This groove for half its length has its bottom 6 upon one side, whereas the other half of the groove has its bottom 7 upon the opposite side, and where these two bottoms terminate (which is substantially midway of the end terminals of the groove), a transversely disposed gutter or groove 8 is provided, so that the smaller ball after having rolled downwardly in the groove from the terminal 3 for half the length of the groove, the smaller ball may be transferred from one bottom to the opposite bottom, so as to roll upwardly in the other half of the groove to the opposite terminal et, the smaller ball is designated by the numeral 10. In rolling the smaller ball about the larger, the smaller ball is placed at the terminal 3, then the larger ball is gradually located, allowing the smaller ball to gradually move down the groove, and when it reaches a distance one-half of the length of the groove, the larger ball is carefully inverted, thereby transferring the smaller ball from the bottom of onehalf the groove to the bottom of the opposite half, after which it is the object to roll the smaller ball through the other half of the groove to the opposite terminal 4, and vice versa.

The invention having been set forth, what is claimed as new and useful is 1. In combination, a larger and a smaller ball, the larger ball having a spiral groove having terminals at diametrically opposite poles of the ball, said groove extending from one terminal to the other in which groove the smaller ball is adapted to roll.
