To all whom it may concern.'
yBe it known that I, MATi-IEW J. WEBER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Columbus, inthe county of Franklin and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Motors; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description ofthe invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to improvements in motors and more particularlyto such as are adaptable for use in driving the agitator shaft of a washing maohine,-one object of the invention being to provide simple and efficient means whereby motion may be transmitted, with va minimum of lost motion and frictional resistance, from the pistons of a fluid pressure motor to a shaft for oscillating the latter.'
lVith this and other objects in view the invention consists in certain novel features of construction and combinations of parts as hereinafter set forth and pointed out in the claims. j v
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a plan view showing the application of my improvements, and Fig. 2 is a sectional view.
1 represents a base plate which may be secured upon a washing or other machine, in any suitable manner. A straight iiuid pressure motor 2 is mounted upon the base plate and provided with suitable valve mechanism to cause the pistons to reciprocate when iiuid pressure (such as water pressure) is admitted. The specific construction of the valve mechanism does not constitute a part of my present invention and need not, therefore, be specifically described and shown.
Posts 3, 3, are located at respective ends of the base plate 1 at one side of the motor 2 and constitute supports for a sliding yoke 4, which may be conveniently made of inalleable iron. The posts 3 are provided at their free ends with projections 5 on which guide rollers 6 for the yoke are mounted. The arms of the yoke are rigidly secured to the rods 7 of the respective motor pistons, and centrally between its ends, said yoke is provided with a slot 8 and with lugs 9 above and below said slot.
The base plate 1 is made with an eXtension 10, and said extension has rigid therewith, a bearing sleeve 11 for a shaft 12, said bearing sleeve projecting both above and below the base plate. f

In' rear of the bearing sleeve 11 and spaced a short distance therefrom, is a post 15 having a pin or projection 16 at its free end.
One end of a link or lever 17 enters the slot 8 of the yoke 4 and is lpivotallyI connected between the lugs 9. The link or lever 17 is made with two elongated slots 18-19 and projects laterally from the yoke over the bearing sleeve 11 and post 15, the latter serving as a bearing for said link or lever. The slot 18 of the lever 17 receives a phosphor-bronze slide block or bearing 20 which is mounted loosely upon the pin or projection 16 of post 15, while the longer slot 19 of said lever receives a phosphor-bronze slide block or bearing 21 mounted loosely on the wrist pin 14 of the crank shaft.
It is apparent that when the yoke 4 is reciprocated by the action of the motor, oscillatory motion will be imparted to the lever 17, the phosphor-bronze bearing block 20 at the upper end of the post 15 constituting a fulcruin on which the lever moves, while the connection of said lever with the crank shaft through the medium of the phosphor-bronze slide block 21 will cause said crank shaft to be oscillated.
Slight changes might be made in the details of construction of my invention without departing from the spirit thereof or limiting its scope and hence I do not wish to restrict myself to the precise details herein set forth.
Having fully described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters-Patent, is:
1. The combination with a reciprocating motor and a crank shaft, of a yoke secured to the piston rod of the motor, a lever connected with said yoke, a slide bearing connecting said lever with the crank shaft, and a slide bearing fulcrum for said lever.
2. The combination with a motor having piston rod projecting from respective ends thereof, of a yoke rigidly secured to said piston rods, a crank shaft, a slotted lever pivoted to the yoke, a fulcrum post with which said lever isk slidingly and pivotally connected, and a bearing blockloosely mounted on the wrist pin ofthe crank shaft and movable in the slotted lever.
3. The combination with a motor having piston rods projecting from respective ends thereof, of a yoke connecting said. piston` rods, a crank shaft provided withv a wrist pin, a fulorum post havinga pin, a slotted lever pivoted to the yoke and movable on said fulcrum post, a bearing block on the pin of the fulerum post and disposedin the slotted llever, and a bearing block mounted on the wristpin of the crankshaft and disposed in said slotted lever.
4. The combination with a motor having piston rods projecting from respeotiveends thereof, and a crank shaft havingawrist pin, of a yokeI connecting said piston rods, said yoke havingy a slotintermediate of its ends, a lever p'votally connected to the slotted portion of the yoke, a fulorum post on which said lever is normally mounted, and connections between an intermediate portion of said lever and the wrist pin of the crank shaft.
5. The combination with a motor, of a yokerconneeted with the same, a fulorum post, a crank shaft between the fulcrum post andthe yoke andhaving a wrist pin, a slotted lever pivoted to the yoke, a phosphor-bronze slide bearing mounted on the fullorum postvand in saidfslotted lever, and a phosphorrbronze slidebearing mounted on the wristpinand in, said slotted lever.
