delivering the paper from small rotary printing machines, for example,'such machines as carry individual type and may be operated by hand for ofice use.
The invention is hereinafter more fully described and the essential characteristics are set out in the claims.

partly broken away, of my ejecting mechanism in place in a rotary printing machine which is shown somewhat diagrammatically;; Fig. 2 is a plan of a portion of such printing machine just above the platen and ejecting mechanism, this view showing a sheet of paper passing through the machine; Fig. 3 is a perspective view on an enlarged scale of the ejecting mechanism proper.
' As shown in Fig. 1, 1 represents the frame of the machine, 2 a rotary printing drum,
3 a coacting rotary platen, 4: a fountain inking roller, 5 a form roller contacting with the fountain roller and with the drum, and 6 and 7 suitable feeding rollers. .These parts may be of any well-known. construction.
Connected with the platen 3 is a gear 10 which may coact with a gear on the drum (not shown) for driving the platen. This gear also meshes with an idler 11 carried by the frame 1, which idler meshes with a gear 12 on the shaft of an ejector roller 13. This roller is therefore continuously rotated,
when the drum is rotated, in a direction to deliver the printed sheet A, as indicated by arrows in Fig. 1.
Slidahly mounted on a cross rod 20 are arms 21 carrying rollers 22 designed to rest on and coact with the roller 13. Each 21 is preferably a sheet metal member having a top plate and side plates 23 bent at right angles thereto and provided with eyes 24 which surround the rod 20 and may shift the rollers 22 laterally, as desired, while always in position to coact with the roller 13.
The rollers 22 are held in coaction with the roller 13 by a coiled spring 2? between the ears 23, this spring having one end 28 overhanging and bearing downwardly on the top of the arm 21 and the other end turned upwardly into a longitudinal. groove 29 along the under side of the rod 20. This construction, while enabling the arm to be sh fted laterally, as desired, maintains, a spring action to cause the roller 22 to bear on the roller 13.
30 indicates a pair of flat strippers which extend between the drum and platen near the opposite ends of the drum and lie above the paper and operate to strip it from the drum after it has passed. the line of printlng impression. These strippers are shown as sheet metal strips having bent forward ends 32 which loosely embrace a stationary cross rod 33. At their rear ends the strips have upward side flanges 35 which have eyes surrounding the rod 20. The flanges 35 start at some distance in advance of the rollers 22 and an opening 37 is made through the bottom of the strip at this roller so that it may act on the roller 13..
It will be seen that the construction is extremely simple. It is effective in stripping the paper from the printing drum and directing it to the ejector rollers 13 and 22, which deliver it at the rear of the machine.
.The positioning of the strippers beyond the printed page while over the margin of the paper automatically positions the ejector rollers 22 so that there is no danger of their engaging the printing surface. This in sures the delivery of a clean copy.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is:
1. The combination, with a printing device, of a delivery roll, an ejector roll adapted to coact therewith, an arm carrying the ejector roll, a rod on which the arm is pivotally and slidably mounted, and a spring acting on the arm irrespective of its lateral position.
2. The combination, with a printing device, of a delivery roll, an ejector roll adapted to coact therewith, an arm carrying the ejector roll, said arm consisting of a plate flanged at its edges to form a support for the roll and having eyes at its rear to surround a stationary rod, and a spring surrounding the rod between the eyes and acting on the arm, said spring having one end tilt extending over the intermediate portion of may be concurrently positioned.
4.'The combination, with a rotary printing couple, of a fiat strip extending between the two, a rod parallel with the couple, an arm adjustable along said rod, a roller carried by said arm, and a connection between the flat strip and the arm for simultaneous adjustment.
5. The combination, with a rotary printing couple, of a fiat strip extending between the two, a rod parallel with the couple, an arm adjustable along said rod, and a' roller carried by said arm, said strip being flanged at its rear portion to extend alongside of the arm and embrace the rod.
6. The combination, with a printing couple, of a rod parallel therewith, an arm slidably mounted on the rod and carrying a roller, a roller with which the roller first mentioned coacts, and a strip extending be tween the members the couple and flanged at its rear portion and provided with eyes extending around the rod.
7 The combination, with a printing couple, of a rod parallel therewith, an arm slidably mounted on the rod and carrying a roller, a roller with which the roller first mentioned coacts, and a strip extending between the members of the couple and flanged at its rear portion on opposite sides of the arm and provided with eyes extending around the rod, said strip having an opening through which the roller on the arm acts.

The combination, with a printing couple, of a rod parallel therewith, an. arm slidably mounted on the rod and carrying a roller, a roller with which the roller first mentioned coacts, a strip extending between the members of the couple and flanged at its rear portion on opposite sides of the arm and provided with eyes extending around the rod, the forward end of said strip being bent backwardly in a U-shape, and a rod carrying such forward end.
11. The combination 01" a rotary printing couple, a pair of strips extending between the members of the couple, a rod in front of the couple carrying the forward end of the strips, a paper feeding device at the front of the couple beneath such forward ends of the strips, a rod at the rear of the couple, a delivery roller at the rear of the couple, arms slidably mounted on said rod and carrying rolls resting on and coacting with the delivery rollers, the rear ends of said strips being flanged upwardly onto opposite sides of the arm and provided with eyes extending around the rod.
