Be it known that I, ALBERT J. SLADE, Jr., a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Pearl River, county of Rockland, and State of New York, have invented certain new and, useful Improvements in Paper-Feeding Machines, of which the follow ing is a full and clear specification.
This invention relates to paper feeding -machines and more especially to that type of feeding machines constituting the subject matter of the application of Talbot C. Dexter, Ser N 0: {195,486, filed October 16th, 1913.
Theprimary-object of this invention is to provide an improved construction for automatically varying the pressure on the tail drag with a view to simplifying the operation of regulating the duration of the sheet combing operation.

The construction and arrangement of these parts are such that whenever the cam 28 engages the cam roller 29., the link 32 (provided it has not been displaced in the manner to be referred to) transmits power tothe cam rod 38, causing said cam bar to move upwardly to engage the cam roller 4:9 and thus lifting the spring rod 44 against 50 and removing pressure foot 42 from the top sheet of the pile. If, again, the movement of the top sheet should be delayed until after the cam 28 had caused a reduction of pressure on the tail drag, in the manner indicated'and the top sheet had been thereby moved to the front gages prior to the regularperiodic action of cam 10 ,on the combing Wheel 7, the pendulum 22 would be displaced along With the pawl 21 and immediately the combing Wheel 7 would be lifted, as Well as the driving link 32.
