LIFE PRESEB-VING SUSHI.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed catcher 1914. Serial-No. 865,455. H
To (ZZZ whom it may concern Be io known that l, DANIEL Since, a subject of the King of Hungary, and resident of Bridgepori, in the county of limrneld and State 3f Ccnneciicut, have invented cerlmprovements in Life- Freserving Suits, of which the following is a, specification.
My invention releies to new and useful improvements in life preserving suits.
The object of ihe invention is to provide v iii which me" be worn over an ordinary so. of clothing and which can be quickly put on and adjusted and specially to provide a suit which when applied as above su 'gesccc will hold a person in and upon washer, and so that the upper portion of body and head will be supported above the surface; further to provide around the body pc tion. of she suit an annular pneumotic compartment and which when infle ocd with air serves as she means for supporting the suit and person contained therein upon the water; further to provide connections with the said pneumatic compact ineniwhereby the same may be conveniently filled and replenished wish air as occasion may require by a hand operation of the wearer and finally co design the suit so the?) the some may be made perfectly tight, safe, and durable besides inexpensive to manufacture,
With chess and other objects in view the invention resides and consists in the construction and novel combination and arrangement of pores hereinafter more fully described illustrated in the accompanying druwings, pointed out in the claim hereto appended, it being understood that various changes in the form, proportion, size and minor details of construction Wichin the scope of the claim may be resorted to without departure from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invenlion.
Similar characters of reference denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several figures of ihe accompanying drewing forming a port of this specification and upon which- Figure 1 shows a sectional elevation of my improved suit complete and as the some appears when worn by e person and inflated and ready for use, and, Fig. 2 is a, side elevation of the device shown in Fig. 1.
As will be noted the complete device is formed in two parts, though I make claim at this time to the body portion only and have illustrated the hood portion only to show the completeness of the outfit. 1
The suit is obviously formed of rubber or a suitable rubber cloth preparation which will serve to prevent the leakage of water and likewise to prevent the escape of air from the pneumatic compartment. The suit includes a body portion 5 formed of one piece and having leg and arm extensions 6 and 7. The open neck portion 8 is gathcred and provided with a cord 9 by means of which it may be closed around and against the neck of the wearer,
10 represents an annular pneumatic chamher which extends around the body portion of the suit and is adopted to be inflated by a bellows 11 or other suitable air pumping device which is secured to the upper body portion of the suit and is connected by a flexible tube 12 with the pneumatic chamber so that by the operation of the hand or arm air maybe readily forced into the chamber. This pipe, is preferably rigidly connected to the suit and thus forms a permanent part of the outfit. The pneumatic-compartment is preferably made of a size proportionate to that shown inthc drawing and obviously is ample to support most any size person.
The hood 14 is preferably secured to the back of the body of the suit in the form of a cape and rests upon the head of the wearer with the front edge or flaps lying loose upon the chestof the body portion of the suit. Suitable pieces of glass 15 ere inserted infront of the hood to permit the wearer to see out and a piece of metal or wire gauze 18 is also inserted so as to permit the wearer to breahh easily.
-Having thus described my invention what 1 claim and desire to secure by Letters Patout is A life preserving suit of the class described, the seine comprising an integral body portion formed of water tight material and including arm and leg exhensions hnving attached gloves and feet and haying a closed front and back and an open upper end portion, means for closing the said opening together against'the neck of the wearer, an integral annular pneumatic compartment extending entirely around the out side of the body port onof the suit the inner Wall of the compartment forming the Wall Fairfield and State of Connecticut, this 3rd 0f the suit, an air inflating device attached day of October A D, 1914-.
to the upper portion of the suit and beneath W his one arm, and connections from the inflating ii A device to the air compartment for filling Wit e the same with air. G. M. NEWMAN Signed at Bridgeport, in the county of JAMES SEDENSKY
