l This invention relates to improvements in'` shades and has for its object to provide a shade of cheap and simple construction adapted to be propelled rotatively upon a bearing by means of the heat of the light' and adapted, also, to be shaded by the shade,
against rotation while vice of the characterdescribedthat is light in weight, attractive 1n appearance, easily operated', and adapted to be used 1n connec i tion with electric lights, candle lights, or other ligl1ts, 'and which may be permitted to rotate or' prevented from rotating at will, while shading said7 light. l

Fig. 5 illustrates a modified form of shade of this invention adapted for use in connection with an electric bulb 4, said bulb being supported in an upright position by any suitable means with the nipple-point 24 of said bulb presented to the concavity of the peakof said cap 8 thus supporting said shade rotatably in place over said bulb. In this modified form, shield-plate 15, supporting member 16, pin 20, and nut 23 may be omitted in construction, as shown in said Fig. 5.
In operation, a shade embodying the present invention constructed according to the preferred form herein described, may be placed in position in connection With a candle as shown in Fig. 3, or a shade constructcd in accordance with said modified form may be placed in position in connection with an electric bulb, as shown in Fig.-

Reverse movement of linger-piece 12 tothe position marked A Figs. 1 and 6 relieves the brake and again permits the shade to vrotate, said brake device l1 being locked in said position 11, in said preferred form .of said device, by means of the engagement of said spring-loop of finger-piece 12 with a side of said opening lil.
-Aniongthe advantages of a shade embodying the present invention is `that it may be made collapsible andl thus may be conveniently packed in a comparatively small space for shipment in quantities.
Various changes in the construction and arrangement of parts may be made Without departing from present invention.'
