Be it-known that 1, CHARLES M."RosE, a citizen of the United States, residing inthe city of New York, borough of Manhattan, in

the county and State of New York, have invented a' certain new and useful Improvement in Telephone-Call Recorders, of which the following isa specification.

The invention relates to means for recording by a subscriber the number and location of telephone calls made, and the object of the invention is to provide asimple, easily operated device'by w-hichthe total number of calls made is registered, the exchange and number of each call recorded, and unanswered calls marked or canceled, so

that an exact record of calls may be; conveniently kept by the subscriber: to serve as a check on the periodical bills for; telephone service. l

In mesh with the gearwheel G is an idle pinion G meshing with a pinion G on the shaft of a roller G and rotating the latter in the desired direction at each depression of either of the push-pins. Above the roller Gr is a similar roller G removably mounted in the plates C C, the ends of its shaft Gr being received in vertical slots 0 c in such plates, and held in strong frictional contact transverse stud G joining the plates G C.

The flanges H H are notched as at It to receive the ends of a shaft H forming the coreof a coil or roll of paper M on which the record of calls is written. The strip or wide tape extends from the roll upwardly over a loose sleeve or roller G on the stud C to the upper face of the platform H which lies parallel with and immediately beneath the hinged cover A and thence between the rollers G G and passes out of the casing through the slot a above described, traveling between the platform II and cover A thus presented at the openings a a in the latter and supported by the platform.

The counter B is of any suitable type, attached by an arm B to the upper bar C and having its numbered disks presented at the opening a as above described. Its shaft 13 projects at one side and carries an arm B extending through a vertical slot at inthe slide D of such length as to provide the stroke required to move the disks at each depression of the push-pin D When a call is 'to be made the call number and exchange desired is written by the subscriber upon the the push-pin D marked for convenience Record, which turns the counter one number in advance through -the action of.

To avoid this calculation a canceling device is included in the apparatus. I. In a device of the character set forth,

a casing having arecord opening and a cancellation opening therein, one in advance of the other, a strip of paper within said casing, a feeding mechanism for moving said strip, a counter, a push-pin and means actuated by the latter for operating said counter and feeding mechanism, whereby an inscription written on said strip at the record opening is subsequently presented for verification or for cancellation at the cancellation opening by the action of said feeding mechanism.

In a device of the character set forth, a casing, transverse bars therein, a pair of slides mounted in said bars, arms on said slides, a rolled strip of paper in said casing, feed rollers for said strip, a tilting frame in said casing arranged to be engaged by said arms and actuate said feed rollers by the movement of either slide, a counter and actuating connections therefrom to one of said slides, means actuated by the movement of the other of said slides for perforating said strip, a lever arranged With one end in the path of one of said slides, a lever for actuating said perforating means, and a loose connection between the adjacent ends of said levers, y In testimony that I claim the invention above set forth ll afix my signature, in presence of two Witnesses CHARLES RUSE.
