To all whom t may concern Beit known that I, Semoir M. WE1-zar., a citizen of the United States, residing at Port Orchard, in the county of Kitsap and State of Washington, have invented new and useful Improvements in Motor-VehicleMovmg Attachments, of which the following 1s a specification.

The present invention provides means whereby the power of the vehicle may be utilized for moving the machine so as to withdraw the wheel or wheels from the rut or depression.

In accordance with this invention a. ropeor cable is rovided, a stake being driven into the roa some distance from the vehicle and having one end of such rope or cable at tached thereto, and a drum fitted to one of 'the drive wheels is adapted to have the oppoz site end portion of the rope or cable passed therearound so that when the engine is started the rope will be woundl upon the drum and thereby apply the power in amanner to lift the machine from the rut or de-` pression into which'it has fallen.

The invention consists in the provision of a stake of peculiar form which will obtain firm anchorage in the ound when driven therein, said stake bein provided with upper and lower hitches or attachment of the rope or cable thereto.

The invention further consists of a. drum of peculiar form which is adapted to be fitted to the hub of one of the drive wheels and secured to the spokes thereof, said drum being in the nature oa hub cap upon which a portion of the ro e or cable is adapted to be wound andthere y lift the machine from the depression into which it has dropped.

The invention also further consists of the novel features. details of construction and combination of parts, which hereinafter will be more particularly set forth, illustrated `and claimed.

The stake consists of a blade 1 having two legs 2 and a. stein 3,'the legs 2 being tapered toward their extremities to facilitate the driving of the stake into lthe ground to obtain a firm anchorage forJ securing the end of the rope or cable 4. Ribs 5 are formed upon the rear sideof the blade 1 and serve tostiiien and strengthen the stake' as well as to enable the blade to beinade comparatively thin and light. The ribs 5 extend along the rear side of the le 2 and' taper toward their lower ends which mer into the plane of the legs so as 'not too er any material obstruction to the entrance of such legs into the ground whendriving the stake.

When the surface o the road is soft thereby enabling the stake to be driven deep the rope or cable l is attached to the upper hitch 6 but when the road is comparatively hard and rm so as not to admit of driving the stake to a. depth therein the rope or cable is attached to the lower hitch 7. The stein 3 forms convenient means for handling the stake and also for delivering the blows thereon for drivin the stake into the ground.

The rum 11 is rovided at one end with a plate or disk 12 w ich is formed at its outer great 1o( edge with extensions 13 which are clamped to the spokes of the drive wheel 14 of the motor vehicle as shown.
