Toallwhom it may concern:

Be it known that I, HUDSON H. BUGELE', a citizen of the United States, residing at St. Louis and State of Missouri, have invented a new and useful Baby-Crib; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to the art of furniture, and particularly to a new and useful crib.

As an object of the invention it is the aim to provide a device of this nature having folding ends, constituting portions of the head and foot ends, and a portion forming a part of the bottom of the crib, said parts being so arranged and constructed, that they may be opened and attached to the side of a bed, whereby the occupant of the crib may roll from one to the other.

Another object of the invention is tov provide a crib, in which the bed clothing may be made up as in the usual way in the morn ing, and then the crib may be folded, there- I by folding the bed clothing and the mattress centrally and longitudinally, after which the crib may be placed under the bed out of the way. 7

In practical fields the details of construction may necessitate alterations, to which thepatentee is entitled, provided the alterations fall within the scope of what is claimed.

The-invention comprises further features and combination of parts, as hereinafter set forth, shown in the drawings and claimed.

Fig. 4 is' a perspective view showing the crib and the bed clothing folded in such a manner so as to be placed under a bed. Fig. 5 is a sectional view on line 5-5 of Fig. i. Fig. 6 is a view showing the crib with the legs folded and arranged on the floor adjacent the wall, so that a baby can play therein.

Referring more particularly to the drawings, 1 designates a portion of the. bottom of the crib, and 2 a portion of the head end of the crib, while 3 denotes a portion of the foot end of the crib, whereas 4 denotes one varesecured together in any suitable manner as at 5, 6, 7 and 8. Y

The head end 2 of the crib has hinged to it as at 9 an extension end 10; while hinged at 11 to the part 3 is an extension foot end 12. Hinged at 13 to the part 1 is an extension bottom or foldable side piece 14. The extension ends 10 and 12 and the extension bottom 14 may be opened and secured together by the latches 15, which are pivoted at 16 to the said extension ends. These latches are provided with notches 18, which when the crib is opened, engage the lugs 19 of the extension bottom, to hold the e parts secure relatively to one another.,

When the crib is folded, the straps may be passed about the rails 25'and 26 of the extension ends and the extension bottom, to hold the same folded. Hinged at 27 to the crib are legs 28, between which and the body of the crib links 29 and 30 are connected. These links constitute means to brace and reinforce the legs, when the crib is in use, there being means 31 to prevent the links from collapsing downwardly. I

' As shown in Fig. 4 it will be seen that the bed clothing is folded longitudinally within the crib, which is likewise folded, in order to be placed beneath the bed. When it is desired to again use the crib, the same may be opened up, and the bed clothing ineluding t e mattress will fall'in its proper position, the same having been made up prior to the crib being folded. If desired, the legs may be folded, and the crib opened, and placed on the floor adjacent the wall as shown in Fig; 6 and secured to the wall or rather to thebase board of the wall by the straps, which may be inserted through staples (not shown). In this manner a baby. can be left in the crib to be allowed to play therein.

Healey, 318,111; Belsher, 432,505; Messenv ger, 24,880; Warfel, 839,442 and Freid, 469,131, and therefore said inventor is not claiming a broad combination, but as shown in the claim he has devised a special construction, whereby a particular form of means are carried by the extension end sections'to engage devices on the folding side piece and the rigid bottom piece, to hold the crib either unfolded or folded, as particularly and specifically set forth in combination with the other features of the claim.

The invention having been set forth, what is claimed as new and useful is:

A folding crib, comprising a bottom, end pieces, and an immovable side piece, means for rigidly fastening said parts together, said end pieces having foldable extension end pieces hingedly connected thereto, a foldable side piece hingedly connected to the bottom, which when folded down extends endwise between the extension end pieces, and when folded to a closed position, the extension end pieces fold thereagainst, the corner portions of the rigidly connected end, side and bottom pieces having foldable legs, means comprising straps secured to the foldable side piece and serving to attach the foldable side piece to the side of a bed, and also for strapping the upper parts of the extension end pieces to the upper part of the foldable side piece to hold the crib folded, the outer face of the foldable side piece adjacent its outer rail having headed lugs, the bottom face of the rigid bottom having headed lugs, the extension end pieces having on their lower edges latches, to engage either the headed lugs of the foldable side piece to hold the same in position, or to engage the headed lugs of the rigid bottom to hold the extension en'd pieces folded against the outer face of the foldable side piece when the crib is collapsed, said legs adapted to be folded to permit the crib when opened to rest fiat on the floor and adjacent a side wall.
