3, 4 andl 5. .l For the purposes of this descripl tion, let it be assumed that the parts of the lswitch mechanism are in the positions illustrated, in Fig. 2,'jin-which the contact member-15.is out of. engagement with the contact member 16 and the -pin 27 of the operl atingsmembe'r in the slot 19 of the sector shaped-,znemlier 14. Under these conditionsv it will be.- noted that the pin 27, being disposedinthe slot 1 9, forms a locking means for maintainingthe switch mechanism in openv position, for, obviously, the contact carrying member 14 cannot .be moved until the pinV 27 iswithdrawn from the slot 19. Assumingnow, that the operating member Iis moved outwardly ortoward the right, the

In moving to initial position, the operating member carries the pin 27- into the slot 18 ofthe member 14, thus locking said member in S0 closed position as illustrated in Fi 5. Also upon return of the operating mem er to initial positiomthe pawl 32 is released 'fromthe pin 40 and then centered by the spring 35 so that lupon the next operation its lug 37 5 5 will engage the pin 39 of the memberv 14:.
Here it should be noted that it is important that'thespring 35 be made to return the pawl to the same position after each opera."-j. tion and that the pins 39 and 40 be so located that each will be engaged by'the'7'0.
