MILTON S. LYSING-ER, OF NORRISTOWN, PENNSYLVANIA.
DYNAMO.
To all whom t may concer/a.'
Be it known that I, MILTON S. LYSINGER, a citizen of the Un'ited/y States, residing at Norristown, in the county of Montgomery and State of Pennsylvania, have invented new and useful Imprdivements in Dynamos, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to dynamos, the object in view being to provide a light construction of revolving armature which embraces and rotates around a stationary core mounted on a fixed shaft, the armature being provided with a hollov7 shaft carrying a commutator, to which the windings of the armature are connected.l On account of the light weight of the revolving armature, the same may be driven at a very high speed with, great economy of power. Y
With the above and other objects in view,
the invention consists in the construction,
combination and arrangement of parts, as will be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and pointed out in the claim hereunto appended.
In the drawings: Figure l is a central longitudinal section through a dynamo, `embodying the present invention. Fig. 2 is a cross section through the core and field.
Referring to the drawings, 1 designates the outer casing or housing of the dynamo, in which is arranged a central iron core i? mounted fast upon a 'stationary shaft 3 mounted at its ends in suitable fixed bearings forming extensions of the opposite ends of Specification of Lettersv Patent.
Patented Feb. 23, 1915.
Application led J'une 19, 1912. Serial No. 704,611.
is attached, at its opposite ends, to heads 5- and 6, and these heads are provided with outwardly extendin hollow shaft sections 7 and 8, which are'Journaled upon the stationary shaft 3. To the'hcllow shaft section 7 there is connected a commutator 9, in
connection with which suitable brushes may be used for carrying off the current generated by the dynamo.
What is claimed is:
A'dynamo comprising a casing, a shaft fixed in said casing, electro field magnets arranged in the casing, a central core xed with relation to the,y magnets, an outer cylindrical armature adapted to revolve around the core and within the field generated by said magnets, collar shaft extensions supporting said armature and mounted upon said fixed shaft, a commutator mounted upon one of the shaft extensions within the casing, and a driving element mounted upon the other shaft extension beyond the casing.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
MILTGN S. LYSINGER.
