Under some conditions, as for instance when the wind is blowing in such direction as to materially assist in the lifting of the draw span it is desirable to prevent the weights 14 from moving past the 'pivotal of the draw span and to enable the Weights to be thus arrested i, provide stone which are here show@ fi s that the scope of the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, I claim 1. In a. bascule bridge a draw span, a rolling support therefor at the shoreward end of the span, a counter balancing Weight for the draw span and arranged on the shoreward side of the rolling Support and at an angle to the said span, a supporting guide arranged in the angle between the counter balancing Aveigbt and the draw span and a movable weight in said supporting guide.

In a bascule bridge a. draw span, a rolling support therefor' at the shoreward end of the span, a counter balancing weight for the draw span and arranged on the shore- Ward side of the rolling support and at an angle to the said span, a supporting guide arranged in the angle between the counter balancing weight and the draw span and extending from the weight in said supporting guide, the said supporting guide being tubular and a. spherical movable weight arranged for movement in tbe bore of the said supporting guide.
In a bascule bridge a dran' span, a rolling support therefor at the shoreward end of the span, a counter balancing weight for the draw span and arranged on the shoreward side of the rolling support and at an angle to the said span, a supporting guide arranged in the angle between the counter balancing weight and the draw span, a movable weight in said supporting guide7 and buffers at the ends of the said supporting guide.
