Application filed December 24;, 1913.
. new and useful Improvements in Racksor Holders; and I. do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact de scription of the, invention, such asvwill enable others skilled in the'art to which it appertains to makeand use the same.
This invention relates to improvements in racks or holders,the object of the invention being to provide a simple structure adapted particularly for holding stacks of disks, such as poker chips and to support the same in such manner that each pile or stack of chips shall be readily accessible and so that they will be normally held against accidental displacement sfrom the respective piles or V A further object is to provide a device of the character mentioned which shall be readily portable; which can be cheaply con structed, and which shall be substantial and also afiord means for storing cards or other articles. I
With these and other objects in view, the v .Finvention consists in'certain novel features of construction and combinations of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and pointed out in the claims.
- The accompanying drawing is a perspective view of a rack or holder showing the embodiment of my invention;
1 represents a hollow base or casing which may be conveniently provided with a drawer 2 to receive cards or other articles. Upon the top of the base or casing 1, three parallel series of posts 3, 4, 5, are located. T hesese- 40-ries of posts are spaced equidistant apart and the posts of each series are also spaced equal distances from each other. The posts -'of theseries 4 are so disposed that they al- -ternatewith the posts of the series 3 and 5,
In the construction shown-in the drawing,
the series 3 and 5 each comprises four posts, whlle the mtermediateseries 4 consists of three posts. The end posts of this inter- I Specification 01 Letters Patent.

mediate series are extended upwardly some distance and, at their upper ends, are connected by an' integral cross-bar, 6,thus forming a handle or bail to facilitate the Patented Feb}, i915.
ready transporting of the device from place to place.
In the drawing a plurality of rows of stacked chips 7 are shown and, by disposing the posts of the. several series as above described, the chips of each stack will have bearings against three posts. This will effectually prevent the accidental displace ment of any chip in any stack, and will also afiord ample space between the posts and the stacks of chips for the insertion of fingers of the hand to grasp one or more chips at least at two points without danger of interfering or displacing chips in any adjacent stack.
\ Having fully described my invention what I I claim as newiand desire to secure-by Letters-Patent, I
1. A device of the character described comprising a base and a plurality of parallel series of posts rising therefrom, said series ofposts being spaced apart and the posts of one series alternating with the posts of the adjacent series.
2. A device of the character described comprising a base and three parallel series of posts, the posts of each series being spaced from the vothers and from each other, and two posts of the intermediate series extended upwardly and connected by a cross-bar, forming a handle or yoke for the device.
3. A device of the character described comprising a baseand threeparallel series of posts, the posts of each series being spaced from each other andthe posts of theintrmediate series alternating with, the posts of the other twoseries of posts.
In testimony whereof, I have-signed this presence of two subscrib- WALTERS. THOMPSON v Witnesses:
