As the blank is fed forward it is engaged on the sides by guides 56 which hold it a against being displaced or yielding sidewise as it'is gripped by the rolls. This feature is important, especially when blanks for horse shoe rands are to be skived, as the pressure of the die tends to force apart the horseshoe rand and Figs. 10 and 11 diifer- 1-0 two legs of such a blank, but it is applicable also to blanks.

A machine of the class-described, havingin combination, a knife, awork supporting table 'provided with means for feeding-a blank toward the knifeand a magazine for supporting a, plurality of superposed blanks in proper position upon the table to enable the lowermost, blank to be advanced toward the knife bv the feeding means com prising a pair of sidemembers constructed and arranged to confine the blank between them and for adjustment toward and from each other to-accommodate blanks of different widths, said members being also arranged for simultaneous adjustment toward and from the knife to accommodate blanks of different lengths, and means for preventing the advance ofthe blanks above said lowermost blank;
