To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Oltosoo C. WOOLSON, a citizen of the United States, residin in New York city, in the county of New ork and State of New York, have invented certion, Fig. 3 a section at 3-3, and Fig. 4 a

This apparatus is a variant (save in its novel features) of the disclosures made in said application, whose reference numerals are used with like significance herein.v As in that case, the furnace is constructed with an axial bearer frame F for the grate bars 9 and therein a front bearing 6, a rear-bearing and intermediate bearings '6 6 all coaxial, for the tubular grinder, .S; with hearth plates and shields, respectively 3 and 27, and a branch flue 30, connecting the bore of the grinder with the chimney flue. The grinder is made up of a front carrier or driver B, a rear carrier C and intermediate helically-toothcd grinders or-grinding sections D, revolubly mounted in said bearings; operably connected with said grinder is a power drive, comprising a ratchet wheel 8, crank L, and pawl 7 and the grinding sections are operably connected With the driver B by a prismatic bar R in their bore, said bars being preferably a Y or star section, as shown in Figs. 2 to 5 inclusive, although any shape having an engaging edge will operate satisfactorily, as illustrated in %he novel constructions are as follows: I simplify the connections of the sections of the grinder S with the bar R. As in said allowed application'the grinder S is cooled by a current of air drawn through its bore by the suction of a flue 30 with which it communicates. To prevent heavy particles from clogging said flue, 1-
bed inthe rear wall of the furnace an expanding T, 30", whose small inner branch is separated by a measurable space from the carrier C, to provide for its expansion, and which is loosely connected therewith by a nipple 30 driven into said T; whose transverse branch communicates with'the flue 30; and whose outward branch expands and is connected, by a nipple 32 and L, 31 with a sump 31, preferably made of'as large a pipe ascan be conveniently used. A removable cap 31 and plug 31 respectively closing, and opposite to the end of, the sump pipe 31, permit the sump to be periodically cleaned out.
