IMPROVEMENT IN ATTACHMENTS FOR RANGES AND STOVES.

I, DAVID STUART, oi Philadelphia, county of Philadelphia, State of Pennsylvania, have invented an Attachment for Ranges and Stoves, of which the following is a specification.

Nature and Object of the Invention.

My invention consists of the combination, substantially as described hereafter, of a movable or detachable platform with the-bottom or hearth of a stove orrange; the said platform affording a convenient support for culinary vessels, dishes, &c., near the stove or range, or, when not required for use, being so movable or detachable as to be put out of the way of the cook. Figure 1 is a perspective view, illustrating my in- .veution as applied to the hearth or base-plate of a stove or range.

Figures 4 and 5, sectional andinverted plan views,-

thatv they do not form ledges of sufficient width to receive the pans, 850., which it may be desirable to remove from the stove, and yet place near the same plates or dishes, the contents of which it is desirable to keep warm.

In order to remedy this defect I connect to the under side of the plate A, by means of a pin orn'vet, (1, or otherwise, a small platform, B, of appropriate dimensious, which can be moved to project beyond the plates, as shown in fig. 1, so as to form a temporary support for a pan, dish, or other vessel, or turned laterally' so as to be beneath the plate and out of the way.

Any desired number of these movable platforms may be connected to the plate at convenient points.

The platform may consist of a simple sliding plate, B, as shown in figs. 4 and 5;, the under side of the plate A being provided with appropriate guides :12 a:

for receiving the sliding platform, which can be moved .Out of, the way when not required for use.

Whichever of these modes of carrying the inven-' tion into effect may be adopted, the movable or detachable platform will aflord a convenient adjunct to;

a range or stove.
