The inner ends of the branches 12 are provided with elbows 14 and jets 15, said jets extending longitudinally of the nozzles 8 and concentrically thereof to support flared nipples 16 approximately intermediate the ends of the nozzles.- The main steam pipe 13 has a conventional 65 form of valve 17 for controlling thesu ply of steani to the nozzles 8 and the com b tion chamber or fire box 4 of the boiler furnace. The four-way connections 9 are provided with smoke and gas inlet pipes 18 that ex-' tend upwardly in front of the boiler setting l and into the space between the boiler doors- 6 and the flue sheet of the boiler 5, the inner ends of said pipe having funnel or domeand direct smoke and gases from the flues of the boiler 5 into the pi e 18 and into the nozzles 8; the suction pro need by the steam ej-ectors within the nozzles tending to thaw the air, smoke. and gases into the nozzles where the steam, air, smoke and gases thoroughly commingle and are injected into the combustion chamber or fire box 4, wherebyv the unburnt products'of combustion can be consumed. The injection of steam carries the smoke and gases to a point in'proximit to the bridge-wall 2, which serves as a ha e and produces eddies of smoke and gasthat are subjected to the action of the fire upon the grate 3, before escaping to again pass through the flues of the boiler 5 and to a stack or chimney.
To increase the combustion of coal or other fuel within the combustion chamber or fire box,-nozzles 20 are mounted in the boiler setting 1, between the fuel doors 7. These nozzles have three-way connections 21 supporting air intake funnels 22 in longitudinal alinement with the nozzles 20. The three-way connections 21 have detachable caps or stulfing boxes 23 and extendi therethrough are the branches 24 of a bran steam pipe 25 connected-to the main steam supply pipe 13, as best shown in Fig. 1. The branch pipes 24 have the inner ends thereof provided with small three-way connections or Ts 26 su porting jets 27 concentrically of the nozz es 20.
