To all 207mm it may concern Be it known that l, ORRTE .L i. Yunnan, a citizen of the 'lUnited ritates, residing at Shenandoah, in the county of Page and State of Iowa, have invented neivand useful Improvements in tltrcetfiprinklers, oi? which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to a. sprinkler, and more particularly to the class of street sprinkling machines for street cleaning.
The primary object oi the invention is the provision of a sprinkling machine of this character wherein the swinging nozzle pipes can be readily adjusted simultaneously with the rotation of the sprinkler head so as to direct the water for the watering of the streets to lay the 'dust and dirt thereon when sweeping the same.
Another object of the invention is the provision of an apparatus of this character wherein the water sprinkling heads are retatably supported and are under the control of the operator so that the distribution of water thereit'rom can varied on the street surface for the proper wetting or moistening of the street prior to the sweep ing or the same.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a sprinkler of this character wherein the water discharged therefrom is under positive control at all times.
A still further object of the invention is the provision of an apparatus of this character which is simple in construction, thoroughly reliable and eilicient in operation, and inexpensive in manufacture.
With these and other objects in view the invention consists in the construction, combination and arrangement oit' parts as will be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing, and pointed out in the claims hereunto appended.

the street sprinkler comprises a supporting bed 10 mounted upon any suitable running gear '11 having front and rear axles 12 and 13 on which are journaled the 'front and rear supporting wheels i l and 15 respectively, the latter being of increased size with respect to the front wheels 14, yet the.
said front and rear wheels may be of uni form size with respect to each other if desired. Stationarily supported upon the bed 10 is a cylindrical tank 16 which is permanently closed at opposite ends and is formed with a partition 18 to provide in its forward portion a compressed air chamber 17, while the rear portion of the said tank serves as a water chamber 18. The air within the said chamber 17 is let into the chamber 18 above the water level therein through a bypass or lead pipe 19, the ends of which being suitably tapped in the body of the tank .16 at the top thereof. The pipe is formed with a valved air outlet nipple 20, a cut-oil valve 21, and a valved inlet nipple 22, to which latter is adapted to be conncctcd a suitable compression pump for supplying air under pressure in the chamber 1'7 while the outlet nipple 20 permits the discharge of air from the compressed air chamber 17 as the occasion may require. Mounted on the pipe 19 for communication therewith is an ordinary pressure gage 23, whereby thepounds pressure of the compressed air within the chamber 17 can be accurately ascertained on inspecting the gage, which operates in the ordinary wellknown manner. The valve 21 is designed to cut oil the supply of air to the chamber 18 above the water level therein or to regulate the inflow of air from the chamber 17 to the said chamber 18 as will be clearly ap arent.

A street sprinkling machine comprising a tank having an outlet, a delivery pipe leading from the said outlet, a vertically swinging nozzle pipe connected with the said delivery pipe, and comprising a section rotatable about a vertical axis, said section terminating in an elbow, a sprinkler head carried by said elbow, a rod fixed within the rotatable section and extended upwardly through the nozzle pipe, a ban er fixed exteriorly to the tank near the torward end thereof, a'n operating rod threaded in the hanger, a knuckle joint connection between the operating rod and the said first-named rod, a hand wheel fixed to the free end of the operating rod, a gate valve mounted in the delivery pipe, and a lever swingingly supported upon the tank and having connection with the ate valve.
