WILLIAM H. POTTORF, OF MASON CITY, ILLINOIS.
CONCRETE-MIXER Application led May 9, 1913.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLiAiiI H. PoT'roRF, a citizen of the United States, residing at Mason City, in the county of Mason and State of Illinois, have invented new and useful Improvements in Concrete-Mixers, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to a mixing machine and more particularly to the class of concrete mixers.
The primary object of the invention is the provision of a machine wherein the mixing chute may be angularly adjusted to various degrees to assure the delivery of the mixture after being agitated, that is to say. the material during the mixing thereof will he precipitated from the receiving end to the discharge end of the machine.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a machine of this character wherein the agitating reel is of novel construction to assure the proper and uniform mixing of the material delivered into the machine.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a machine of this character wherein water will be delivered to the mixer from one side thereof.
A still further object of the invention is the provision of a machine of this character which is simple in construction, thoroughly reliable and elticient in its operation and inexpensive in manufacture.
lVith these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in thc accompanying drawing, and pointed out in the claim hereunto appended.
In the drawings z-Figure 1 is a side elevation of a machine constructed in accordance with the invention. Fig. 2 is a top plan View thereof. Fig. 3 is a vertical longitudinal sectional view of the same. Fig. 4 is a sectional View on the line 4 4. of Fig. 2. Fig. 5 is a rear elevation.
Similar reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views in the drawing.
Referring to the drawings by numerals, the machine comprises a rectangular shaped frame 10 which is preferably constructed Specification of Letters Patent.

from wood, although it may be made from anv other material, and to the cross end rails l1 of which at the under side thereof are xed central hearings 12 having journaled therein the operating shaft 13 of a mixing or agitating reel presentlv described. Built at one end of the frame 10 is a hopper 14. and on one side of the latter and fixed to the frame are bridge pieces 15 to one of which is hinged a door 16; it loeingl seen that the maior portion of the frame 10 at the top thereof is closed. vet access may be had through the door 1G to the` metal mixing and deliverv chute 17 which is in th` form of a semvorcular hodv. the longitudinal edes of which are siitahlv secured to the inner faces of the side rails of the frame 10 and into this chute 17 is poured the concrete material to he mixed with water. in a manner presentlv descrihed. At the hopper end of the frame 10 and pivoted to the sides thereof are swinging props or legs 18 wherehv the frame and chute 10 and 17 respectively can he anoularlv adiusted, thus permittinor tlvx elevation of the hopper end to precipitatev the material delivered into the chute toward the discharge end thereof. The mixing rcel comprises a plurality of spiders 19 which are arranged in spaced relation to each other and are centrally fixed to the shaft 13. and on the outer ends of the arms of the spiders 19 are fixed rods 20 which act upon the concrete material for mixinnr and aoitatinfr the same when being precipitated within the chute from the hopper to the discharge end thereof, the shaft- 13 heini; provided with a pullev wheel 21 which is rotated from any suitable motor. Formed in the upper edge of one side of the frame 10 is a notch 22 providing seat for a wat-er nozzle 23 to which is adapted to he connected a water hose wherehv the nozzle will feed water into the chute 17 for moistenina or wetting the concrete material.
From the foregoing it is thought that the construction and manner of operation of the device will he clearly apparent. and therefore a more extended explanation has been omitted.
'What is claimed is:-
The combination with a mixer frame of substantially rectangular formation. of
alined bearings depending centrally from of pivot legs supportingr the hopper end of the end rails of the frame, a semi-cylindrical the frame in different elevated positions. 10 chute seeured to the Said rails of the fra-lne In testimony whereof I affix my signature and projecting below the bottom thereof, an in presence of two witnesses.
agitator shaft arranged in the chute and WV. H. POTTGRF. journaled in said bearings, a cover for said lVitnesses:
chute having a swinging door section, a feed WV. G. ELINORE,
hopper at one end of the frame, and a pair I. L. POTTORF.
