To all whom it may concern.'
Be it known that I, GEORGE D. ROGERS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cleveland, in the county of Cuyahogay and State of Ohio, have invented cert-ain new and useful Improvements in Induction- Coils, of which the following is a specification, that, taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, will enable those skilled in the art to which the invention pertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to induction coils specially designed for use with high frequency electrical apparatus adapted for therapeutical purposes, whereby the energy of electric current drawn from ordinary community service lines, at voltage of about say 110, or other low connnercial voltage, may be transformed and raised to sufficiently great intensity for all of the purposes for which such though it is not intended to confine or limit the invention to the particular purpose stated, but to extend its scope to any other purposes or uses for which it may be adapted.
The object of the invention is to so arrange the several elements of the coil in compact and convenient form and in such relative associations that the maximum of efl'ective. transformation of current is produced without material loss through leakage or dissipation of energy; and the invention consists of such features and assemblage of parts as will hereinafter be described in detail and set forth in the appended claims.

The induction coil or transformer is preferably made. without an iron or magnetic core. and itcomprises, chiefly, an outer primary coil or winding A of heavy wire inclosing an inner secondary coil or winding a of relatively finer wire, both wound in suitable proportions for any specific demands of the service to be performed.
The inner or secondary coil is formed "line apparatus is used,
about a hollow center in which is seated a metallic sleeve O, preferably non-magnetic, and extending from one endv partially through the length of the coil. One terminal of the secondary coil is electrically attached to this sleeve or socket, as at b, and its other terminal is electrically attached as at 1 to the primary conductor for a ground This coil is designed for particular use in therapeutical practice, with a vacuum electrode D. This yelectrode is preferably provided at its receiving end with metallic stem or plug d adapted to fit into the metallic tube of the coil as shown. By this means of connecting the electrode directly to or into the heart of the secondary coil it receives the full discharge of said coil by induction wit-hout loss of energy or the leakage of current arising from the use of such liexible conductors as are commonly on the market, which are not sufficiently coated with insulation to restrain the enormously high voltage of high frequency secondary currents. Line wires a and al extend from the primary to any suitable source of primary current.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new and useful and is desired to secure by Letters Patent is:
l. An induction coil consisting of a plug, a metallic sleeve thereon, a secondary winding on the sleeve with one terminal connected electrically to the sleeve, and a primary winding on the secondary winding and connected to the other terminal of the secondary coil.
2. An induction coil consisting of a metallic plug, a non-magnetic conductor sleeve thereon, a secondary winding on the sleeve with one terminal connected electrically with the sleeve, and a primary winding on the secondary winding and connected to the other terminal of the secondary winding.
