In a track fastening for rail joints, the combination of a rail joint including a shoe angle whose rail supporting base plate pro jects beyond one edge of the rail f ange and has formed therein. a spike hole, an angle bar whose lfoot is provided with an out- \\'ardly jnojeeting flange extension having a spike hole therein and a spike head seat on its upper surface, a comiressible filler arranged at the inner side o the upright member ol the shoe angle, and a screw spike extending through the holes in said lange extension and said hase plate, the head ol said Spike having a direct hearing engagement at its under side with said spike head seat.

In a track fastening for rail joints, the combination of a rail supporting hase plate having an edffe portion projecting beyond an edge of tie rail flange and provided therein with a spike hole, and an angle bar whose foot is provided with an outstanding iange extension having a direct bearing on said edge portion of the base plate at the same angle as the adjacent rail flange, said angle har llrnge extension also having a spike hole therein, and a screw spike adapted to extend through the spike holes in said flange extension and said edge portion of the base plate, the head of the screw spike having a symmetrical bearing engagement at its under side with the top surface of said flange extension.
