this end the invention comprises the fountain message instrument proper and in combination therewith a cream charging device such as a collapsible tube adapted to co-act withA certain constructional features of the massageinstrument whereby the supplying of the latter with cream can be accomplished only by the coperation of the two, thus guarding against fraudulent substitutionto the injury of the user and manufacturer.

Referring particularly to the form of the invention shown in Figs. 1 to 4i.- inclusive, the message instrument lproper comprises a massage pad 11 having upon its face rubber Contact elements 12 and also with a rubber cup, the Walls 13 of which inclose a recess 14 communicating at its inner extremitywith a tubular channel 15, which forms with the bore 16 of a metal thimble 17 a passage-h way to and beyond. the back of the pad. The thimble 17 is provided at its inner end with. a flange 18 preferably angular and embedded within the material of the pad at the time of molding.v the latter. The outer end of the thimble is provided preferably with a left hand thread adapted to engage within the similarly threaded lower end of an elbow connecting element 19, the opposite end of the elbow being also provided with interior left hand. thread for releasable engagement with a left hand thread formed upon the nozzle 20 of a collapsible tube 21 adapted to con-tain the fluid or semi-fluid material for the application of which the massage device is intended and which is referred to herein generally as cream. The offset converging ends 22, 22 of a wire handle are embedded as indicated in the material of the pad 1l at the time of molding the latter, the handle extending from the end walls of the pad upwardly and thence in parallel spaced rela-tion as indicated at 23, 23.A The spaced members 23 23 are adapted. to lie on opposite sides of t e cream tube 21` so that. when the members 23 are grasped with the hand the tube 21 lies with- 1n the palm Ibetween said members and is protected thereby.

The device is adapted for use in the simp le form above described, the cream being discharged into the pad as required by a slight pressure of the fingers upon the collapsible tube. In order, however, to provide additional support for the tube 21 and to impart greater certainty to the feeding of the cream, I preferably mount upon the parallel members 23 of the handle a wire carrlage 24 adapted to slide along the members 23. The carriage 24 is provided with termlnal loops 25 and .26 which serve as bearings for a split key 27 the fur-cated portion of which is adapted toy embrace the flattened end of the tube 21 and to wind the same u for the purpose of expelling the cream rom the opposite end. The key 27 thread upon the connection member 19, and by the adoption as a. container for the cream of a collapsible tube having its nozzle similarly threaded l prevent the massage device being used in connection with any cream other than that supplied in such a container and of a given manufacture, as the collapsible tubes on the market have their nozzles universally equipped with a right hand thread. Ubviously if it is desired that the massage device shall be capable of employment in connection with all kinds of cream the connecting member may be provided with a right hand thread.

ln that form of the construction shown in Figs. 6, and 7 the pad 31 having the rubber bristles 32is" equipped with a cup 33 of slightly different form but communicating as before through the passage 3d with the bore 35 of the thimble 36, thesaid thimble having a terminal interior left hand thread instead of exterior thread as in the former case. l-lere the thirnble is adapted for direct engagement with the threaded nozzle 8i' formed upon an integral lateral extension 38 of the collapsible tube 39. ln order to provide for the revolution of the tube 39 in a substantially horizontal plane in the act of screwing the nozzle 37 home in the thimble 36 l provide a retaining member l0 which is substantially Elel-shaped, the two extremities being offset at il and then laterally bent and seated within ears 4t2 formed upon the handle i3 immediately adjacent to the pad, the opposite end of the retaining member l0 corresponding to the closed end of the tl is lihewise odset at le and twisted at l5 about a pin i6 which is journaled in other ears d? of the handle. ln this instance the split key i8 with its carrlage 4:9 travels upon the retaining member d0. 2. ln a fountain massage device, amassage pad provided with a passageway to its face, a handle comprising parallel spaced members, a collapsible cream container disposed in the space between the handle members and comprising a collapsible tube having a nozzle detachably connected to the passageway of the pad whereby to discharge the contents of the container through the pad onto the face thereof, and means progressively collapse the tube'from the rear end, substantially as described.

3.. ln a fountain massage device, a message pad provided with a passageway to its face, a. handle comprising parallel spaced members, a collapsible cream container disposed 'in the space between the handle members and comprising a collapsible tube having a nozzle detachably connected to `the passageway of the pad whereby to discharge the contents of the container through pad onto the face thereof, and a key lcling on the handle and engaging the tube whereby to progressively wind up the from the rear, substantially as described.
