To this end the invention consists in the features of construction, combination, and arrangement of parts hereinafter described and claimed.

In the adaptation of my invention shown, I employ a pair of toy automobiles A arranged to run upon These tracks in the drawings are shown in the form of slots in a suitable base 2, each toy automobile being formed with a downwardly projecting arm 3 to extend through one of the corresponding slots, the lowerend of the arm being connected. by a cable 4: with suitable operating mechanism not shown. The operating mechanism may be any means which will draw the toy automobiles in opposite directions around the two tracks.
Seated in each automobile is an animated figure C. Extending vertically through the figure and forming a pivotal support 5 for the head 6 of the figure is a tubular standard 7. The standard 7 below the pivot 5 supports a cross bar 8 which through horizontal slots 9 in the sides of the figure. The lower end of the standard 7 is residing at 1 parallel tracks 13.

Carried by the inner end of the actuating arm 13 is a wiping plate 21 which in the turning of the lever arm 13 wipes the top edge of the arm 20, turning said arm upon its fulcrum as said wiper plate passes the extension 18, for the purpose hereinafter set forth.
In operation, the' automobiles will be caused to travel in opposite directions around the track by any suitable actuating mechanism. As the automobiles pass, the projecting ends of the actuating arms 13 of the two automobiles will. strike, causing said lever arms to be turned, as shown in dotted lines in Fig. 5, to allow the passing of the vehicles. The turning of the arm 13 will, through the medium of the cross bar 16, arm 11, and standard 7, first rotate the supported head of the figure. As the head of the figure rotates the ends of the cross bar 8 will come into contact with the ends of the slot 9 to rotate the figure itself. By the time that the head-of the figure and figure itself have been successively rotated, the wiping late 21will reach the projection 20 of the lever 18 depressing said lever 18 to cause the head to nod through the medium of the connecting rod 19. I claim as my invention: v i
1. In combination, a plurality of animated gures, means, for carrying said animated figures past each other, and means controlled in the passing'of said figures to give a turning motion to the figures.
2. In combination, a plurality of animated figures, means for carrying said animated figures past each other, and means controlled in the passing of said figures to successively give a turning motion to the head and body of each figure.
3. In combination, a plurality of animated figures, means for carrying said animated figures past each other, and means controlled in the passing of said figures to successively give a turning motion to the head and body of each figure and a nodding motion to the head.
L In combination, a plurality of conveyances, means for carrying said conveyances past each other, animated figures, means for movably supporting said animated fig ures in connection with said conveyances, and means actuatable as said conveyances pass to successively turn said figures and nod the heads thereof.
5. In combination, a plurality of conveyances, means for carrying said conveyances past each other, animated figures, means for movably supporting said animated figures in connection with said conveyances, and lever mechanism actuated as said conveyances pass to move said figures.
6. In combination, a plurality of couveyances, means for carrying said conveyances past each other, animated figures, means for movably supporting said animated figures in connection with said conveyances, and spring restrained lever mechanism actuatable as said conveyances pass to successively rotate said figures and nod the heads thereof.
