SOFT FOLD-COLLAR.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, JULIA ROBINSON, a citizen of the United State's, residing at Troy, county of Rensselaer, and State of New York, have invented certain new andv useful Improvements in "Soft/F old-Collars, of which the following is a specification.

The invention relates to 'such improve-- ments, and consists. of the novel construction hereinafter described and subsequently claimed.

Reference may be had to the accompanying drawings, and the reference characters marked thereon which form a part of this specification. Similar characters refer to similar parts in the several figures therein.

is the untidy and disordered appearance which the front ends of the collar-top present when disarranged by the knot of the necktie and the movements of the wearer. This is due largely to the fact that such collars are made of soft flexible fabrics which lack the stren th and stiffness which is necessary to retain said ends symmetrically disposed. In the endeavor to hold the ends of the top of such a collar symmetrically and smoothly disposed, various expedients have been adopted for the purpose of tying together the ends of the top or fastening the ends of the top to the neckband as by means of buttons and buttonholes, but it is impossible'by the use of such devices to hold the neighboring ends of the top in even approximate symmetry.

The top is shown formed of three plies, 4, 5, and 6, which in making out by a run seam, 7. ' The collar may be worn without the use of devices for tying together the ends of the top or devices for securing the ends of the top to the band, or it may be used with any of such devices for securing together either directly or indirectly the ends of the top, rendering such devices more effective for the intended purpose. v

In Fig. 5 I have shown my improved collar with the ends of its'top tied together by a link 10, having buttons, 11, inserted through the respective buttonholes, 12, in the ends of the collar-top. p

The reinforce strip ma be made of any suitable fabric which W11]. impart to the ends of the collar the necessary stiffness, heavy muslin or duck being suitable for the purpose.

What I claim as new and desire to secur by Letters Patent is- 1. A soft-fold-collar having a folded-over top formed of a plurality of plies inturned and secured together along their edges, and a reinforcing strip having an edge portion stitched to, and inturned between, the respective edge portions of the top along its ends and extending to a greater distance from the end of the top than do the inturned edges of thetop plies.

2. A soft fold-collar having a folded-over top formed of a plurality of plies inturnedand secured together along their edges, and

3. A soft fold-collar having a folded-over top'formed of a lurality of plies inturned and secured toget er along their edges, and having a reinforcing strip stitched to, and inturned between, the respective edge-portions of the top along its ends, said top having means whereby its ends are adapted to be secured together.
