Be itknown that I, EDELLIS, a citizen of the United .States,-residing at Guthrie, in the county .of Logan and State of Oklahoma, haveinivented certain new and useful vImprovements in Refrigerator Weighing Devices; and I do hereby declare the following to be a .full, clear, and exact description of theinvention, such as will enable others skilled in theart' to which it appertains to make and use the same.
.My invention relates to new and useful improvements in weighing devices for refrigerators whereby the amount of ice placed within the refrigerator may be determined, by numbers of pounds, at all times. An importantobject of my invention is to provide a cage or receptacle for containing ice that is mounted within a refrigerator and suspended by means of a suitable spring, said cage or receptacle being operatively connected with a pivoted scale needle where by the amount of ice within the cage, in numbers ofpounds may be readily determined from time to time without opening the lid or doors of the refrigerator.
Another important object of my invention is to provide a device of the character described which is extremely simple as to construction and number of parts, may be cheaply manufactured and which is capable of being installed within refrigerators without necessitating much labor or time for installing the device.
- The above and additional objects are acccmplished by such means as are illustrated in the accompanying drawings, described in the following specification and then more particularly pointed out in the claims which are appended hereto and form a part of this application.

Formed upon the top. wall? of the. refrigerator 1 is a rectangular,compartment 12 adapted to contain the scale needle and graduated scale plate. This compartment 12 isv provided with axglass wall 13 vat'the front thereof to facilitate the ready reading of the scale. The glass front 13 may if so desired only extend for a distance sufiicient to permit the reading of the scale which is located at one end of the receptacle and in this connection it is not thought necessary to illustrate the above described arrangement.
The upper end of the rod 9 is extended into the compartment 12 and provided with an eye 14: adapted to receive the hook end 15 of a connecting rod 16 which is pivoted as at 17 to a scale or indicating needle 18. This indicating or scale needle 18 is pivoted as at 19 to the rear wall of the compartment 12 and is provided at its free end with a re.- duced point which is adapted to register with the graduations on the scale plate 21 that is preferably secured to the rear wall of the compartment 12.

Secured adjacent each corner of the receptacle 4 upon the bottom wall thereof are guide rods 23 that are slidably mounted within the bearings 22, These guide rods 23 and cooperating parts serve to provide for the proper sliding of the cage or receptacle 4 within the compartment A. An opening 24 is formed adjacent one sideof the bar 21 to provide for the sliding of the drain pipe 5 t erethrough. It will thus be seen that when a block of ice is placedin the cage or receptacle 4, the pull communicated to the needle 18 through the medium of the rods 9 and 16 causes the point of the needle 18 to register with the graduations on the scale plate 21. Thus it will be seen that the amount of ice within the cage 4 may be readily determined, by'numhers of pounds, at all times without necessitating opening of the doors of the refrigerator. 1
It is desirous of'emphasi'zin the fact that the device hereinbefore descri d and illustrated in the accompanying drawings is extremely simple as to construction and number of parts and is capable of being readily attached to standard refrigerators without necessitat' much time or labor.
In reduction to practice, I have found that the form of my invention, illustrated in the drawings and referred to in the above de scription, as the preferred embodiment. is the most eificient and practical; yet realizing that the conditions concurrent with the adoption of my device will necessarily vary, I desire to emphasize the [fact that various minor changes in details of construction, proportion and arrangement of parts may be resorted to, when required, without sacrificing any of the advantages of my inven- 1 tion, as defined in the appended claims.
