IMPROVEMENT iN DISH-WASHERS.

To' all whom it may concern:

Be it known that we, RUTH FlnsoN, ROBERT D. S. FILsoN, and JOHN D. C oPE, of Xenia, in the county of Clay and State of Illinois, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in Dish-Washers; and we do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawing making a part of this specification, i

placed for washing. This box will have wto be madeof 4different sizes, suitable to small or large familiesvery large forvhotels.

The sides are wood, the bottom and endsof one piece of galvanized iron.

The inside fixtures are also made of galvanized wire and of iron, which will not corrode or rust in use.

`The box or tub A is placed on rockers B B, but the same end can be obtained substantially by suspending by straps, resting it on side pivots or by wooden springs being placed in the box; the object-or design being, by moving 4the machine ou the rockers, or by other appliances, to force the water quickly from end .to end ofthe box or machine, passing it between and over the vessels to be washed.

O G are racks to hold the dishes in place, made of galvanized iron, and so constructed as to open and close, as shown in the drawing, and of such size that, when the dishes are in place. and the leaf closed 0r raised, the upper cross-bar of the leaf shall rest near the upper edge of the dish, avoiding the deep base, t-hereby economizing room.

The manner of puttingin the dishes is readily seen by the drawing, and the operation of the machine is very simple and easily understood.

Remove the lid D; the folding-leaves OObeing open, take the largest plates and place the edges between the irst cross-bars at the bottom, the upper edge of the plate resting back against the end of the tub then raise the rst leaf, and put in all the dishes, raising and closing the leaves as the washer is filled. The Ycups are placed in a separate rack, E. Now'pour over the dishes the hot dish-water or suds, put on the lid, give it a few q'uick motions, throwiug'the water over the dishes; let them stand in soak or steam while the table is being cleared of cloth, 85o.; then a few rapid motions of the machine will thoroughly cleanse thedishes. Now draw olf the water through the faucet a, pour over the water to rinse, again put the machine in motion for a minutefdraw oi' the rinse water, take oli` the lid, and let the dishes stand iu place to dry. v v Having thus fully described our invention,
