The combination of a reciprocatory carriage, a gripper member on said carriage, a main cam having a releasing notch, an auxiliary cam also having a releasing notch, means on the carriage for' effecting the movement of the cams therewith, a stationary part supported independently of the carriage' for arresting the movement of the main cam with the carriage, the auxiliary cam being carried with the carriage on the arrest of movement of the main cam to bring the notches into register and thereby release the gripper member, and means for imparting an operative movement to the gripper member when it is thus released, the notch 'of the main cam having means for positively moving the gripper member toward releasing position.

The combination of a reciprocatory carriage, a gripper member on the carriage, a main cam provided with a projection and having a rabbet, an auxiliary cam itted in said rabbet, both cams having releasing notches, means on the carriage for ei'ecting the'movement of the two cams therewith, a yoke supported independently of the carriage, one branch of the yoke being adapted to arrest the movement of the main cam with the carriage on the advancing movement of the latter, and the other being adapted to return said main cam to its primary position on the opposite movement of said carriage, the auxiliary cam being carried with the carriage when the main cam is arrested to effect registration of said notches, and means for imparting a Working movement to the gripper member when the notches are in register.
