IMPROVEMENT IN STEAM-GENERATORS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 1 1,025, dated June 6, 1854.
To all whom, it may concern.-
Be it known that I, ALEXANDER B. LATTA, of Cincinnati, in the county of Hamilton and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Improvement which I denominate a Divided Tubular Generator, which is described as follows, reference being had to the annexed drawings of the same and making part of this specification.
In Figure lis the plan showing the outside of the firebox and cover with the opening to attach the smoke-pipe. Fig. 2 is the front elevation with the fire-box removed partly, so as to see the coil inside. The first pipe commences at A,where it comes through the firebox, then continues back and forth for some distance, then divides into two pipes. After ascending some distance it subdivides into four pipes, or any other number that maybe desired. At the top of the steam-chamber of the fire-box the pipes B B B B come out and are attached steam-tight to the steam-box, into which they discharge the steam. The little project-ion cast on the top of each one of the turns, with a hole through, is for the purpose of passing a bolt through to fasten the ends to the inside of the lire-box. Fig. 3 is a side elevation showing the side of the coil, fire-box, (itch Fig. 4 is section on A B, Fig. 3, showing the pipes as they appear on top. Fig. 5 is drawn out to show what the pipe would look like if it were-straightened out. This will give a correct idea of the manner in which it is constructed.
