Description

- with@ 'A titg MILAN IIINMAN, OE WEST STOOIIBEIDGE, MASSAOIIUSETTS, ASSIeNOR TO HIMSELE AND ROBERT M. STONE, OE DES MOINES, IOWA.
A Letters Patent No. 110,040, dated December 13, 1870.
IMPROVEMENT IN LUBRICATORS.v
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all 'whom .it may concern:
Be it known that I, MILAN IIINMAN, of West Stockbridge, in the county of Berkshire and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful Im- Y prorement in Oiler for the interior parts of steam engines; and I do hereby declare that the following is O a full, clear,l and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming part of this speciiication, in whicht The figure is a side view of my improved appara- My invention has for its object to furnish an improved apparatus for introducing oil into the interior parts of an engine; oiling the throttle-valve, governor-valve, steam-chest, cylinder, and other parts not usually oiled, preventing the wear of said parts; and
which shall be simple inA construction, easily applied, s
f cannot usually be oiled.`
and effective in operation; and v It consists inthe construction and combination of the various parts of the apparatus as hereinafter more fully described.
A represents a steam-pipe. B is an oil-reservoir, which I prefer vto make globu- -lar in form, and which is connect-ed with the steam- .pipe A, by the small pipes G and D.
E and F are stop-cocks connected with the pipes Gand D, respectively, to enable the passageof steam Athrough the globe B to be regulated and controlled .or prevented, as may be desired.
OiI is then poured into the oil-cup G and runs into the globe B.
The stop-cocks H and I a-re then closed, and the stop-cock E fully and the stop-cock F part-'tall y opened.
The steam thus enters the globe B through the pipe C, becomes saturated with oil, and escapes through the pipe D, which oii is thus introduced into all the interior parts of the engine, even those parts that .Having thus described my invention,
"I- claim as new` and desire to secure by Letters Patentlhe oil-cup G, oil-reservoir B, ipes O D, and stopcocirs E F II I, combined as descri ed, with the steampipe A, to furnish a small and absolutely steady stream of oil.
, l MILAN HINMAN. \Vituesses c W.` H. EDWARDS, WM. G. SPAULDING.
