Be it known that l, EDWARD J. BRANDT,
a citizen ot the United States, residing at l/Vatertown, in the county ot' Jefferson and State of lVisconsin, have Yinvented certain new and useful Improvements in Coin-Delivery Machines, et' which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
This invention relates to an improvement in coin delivery machines ot the type known as Brandt automatic cashier, and the present invention relates more particularly to the type ot machine shown and described in my application filed .lune 10, 1912, Serial No. 702861.,
ln the particular embodiment of machine illustrated in the application above referred to, there is shown a machine employing a series ot coin pushers which are actuated by mechanism including a series olil bell crank levers, which levers are actuated singly and associated by a series oit keys, which keys are provided with portions adapted to directly engage the arms of the bell crank levers to etl'ect the shitting thereof. ln this construction, owing to the tact that it is necessary to employ al series ot keys and to the tact that most of such keys are adapted 'to eilect the actuation ot more than one of the bell crank levers, the arms ot' said levers are engaged at varying distances troni the pivots thereof by the parts which are moved into engagement therewith when the keys are manipulated,` so that it will be found that considerable more power is required to operate some ot the keys than to operate other ot the keys.
The primary object ot the present invention is the provision of a machine et this character in which this objection will not be present in that the pressure required to operate the various keys will be, to a sul stantial extentE cqualized. 4
Uther objects of the invention will be apparent from the detailed description hereinafter when rad in connection with the accompanying drawings forming a. part hereof, wherein a convenient embodiment ot the invention is illustrated and wherein like characters ot references reifer to similar parts in the several views.

ln the present machine. as in the machine disclosed in my application herein referred to, a series ot edge-wise disposed angle plates are employed, such plates constituting bell crank levers.v all ot which are conveniently tuicrumed on a rod 1G which is secured in any suitable manner in the frame or casing ot the machine and extends transversely thereof. The rear arms ot the hell crank levers 15 are adapted to extend horizontally and to. underlie the plaie portions 11 ot the various keys and said arms are also positioned to work in slots formed in plates 35 and 3G which are secured in the casing, this construction serving to properly guide the bell crank levers in their moveu ments. A spiral spring 'i7 connects the rear arm of each bell crank lever l5 with any suitable fixed part of the machine and serves toV normally hold said lever in its proper position,
Pivotally connected at their upper ends to a rod 2O or other suitable support which is mounted in the upper portion of the easing are a plurality of pendant swing hangers 21, there being as many of such hangers provided as there are bell crank levers l5 in the machine. Each hanger is straddled by' the forked end of a coin pusher 22, which is pivoted to the hanger adjacent the lower end thereof, the rear end of which coin pusher is connected by a suitable spiral spring to the widened lower end of the hanger 2l to which said pusher is pivot-ed.
The lower widened end of each hanger 21 is provided with an anti-friction roller 28 which opposes the forward arm of one of the llevers 15 which arm is confined between the hanger and a guard 29 parallel thereto, said guard being fast on a spacing rivet 30 and the guard also serving with the hanger as a support for the anti-friction roller 28. From this construction, it will be readily unders tood that each of the coin pusher hangers is swung forward whenever the lever 15, associated therewith, is rocked from its normal position, and that such hanger is restored to its normal position whenever the spring 17 serves to restore the lever 15, which has been rocked, to its normal position.
The actuation of the coin pusher hangers 21 serves to eject the proper coins from the compartments of a coin tray 31 into a chute f1. The construction of these parts is simiir to that disclosed in my application Serial Xo. 702,861, above referred to, and 1 have,
therefore, deemed it unnecessary to hereinfully illustrate and 'describe in structure of such parts.
In the structure illustrated in my application, No'. 702,861, herein referred to, the bell crank levers are rocked by direct contact of the plates 11 of the keys with the rea-r arms thereof. By reason of the position which some of these plates must necessarily occupy, on account of the number and character of the keys employed, it will be observed that when some of the keys'are dcpressed, the plates 11 thereof will Contact detail, the
1 with the hell cranks 15 adjacent the Ipivots thereof, while in other cases, thecontaet will4 be made at some distance from thc bell crank pivots, so that considerable more power will be required to operate sonic of the keys than others. In the present embodiment of the invention, the plates 11 of the keys do not contact directly with the arms of the bell crank levers themselves, but are arranged to contact with intermediate mem-bers, one of which is provided for each hell crank lever, which intermediate members are fashioned to engage the arms of the hell crank levers at certain definite fixed points whenever they are actuated by the depression of the keys, so that regardless of the point at which the key may engage the intermediate member, the engagement of said intermediate member with its bell crank lever will always be at the same point and the pressure which is required to operate the various keys will, therefore, be to a great extent equalized.
In the particular embodiment of the invention illustrated in the present application, the intermediate members used for this purpose to form Athe operative connections between the keys and the bell crank lovers 15 consist of rockers 50, one of which is posi-l ti'oned alongside of the rear arm of each bell crank lever 15, said rockers conveniently comprising-bars having crank ends which are journaled in an frame or casing of t ie machine, such cranked ends, in the particular embodiment illusj trated, being shown aspivotally mounted in the plates 35 and 36. Projecting laterally from each of the rockers 50 is'a projection 51 which is adapted to overlie the upper edge of the rear arm of the bell crank lfadjacent such rocker, so that when the rocker is depressed, it will, through its engagement of the projection 5l thereof, with such bell crank, also effect the depression ofthe bell crank. The rocker will be restored to its normal position by the bell crank when the same is retractedby its spring. `The rockers 50 are positioned so that the elongated bars thereof will directly oppose the foot portions of the various plates of the keys.
While a convenient embodiment of the invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, it will be understood that changes may be made to the particular form and construction therein shown without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as defined in the appended claims.
I claim zv 1. A coin delivery machine comprising a series of com pushers, operating means therefor including a series of levers, a series of rockers, one positioned adjacent each of saidlevers, each of said rockers being provided with a part projecting therefrom and overlying the lever adjacent thereto, and a series of keys for juating said rockers.
2. A coin deliver;v machine comprising a series of coin pushers, operating means therefor including a seriesof levers, for normally holding said levers retracted, a movable vmember positioned alongside of each of said levers and having a part projecting therefrom and overlying one edge thereof,
