To all whom it mag/)concern .j

Be it known that I, FRANK ,SxAszYNsKn a subject of the Emperor of Russia, residing at w Britain, in the county of Hartford andi tate of Connecticut, have invented eertailr new and useful Improvements in Swimining Apparatus, of which the lollovvingisa s eiiication.

" hisin'vention relatesto pertain new and at its forward end toget useful improvements in 'swlr'nming appara- 4 endeavoring to lea-rnA the art of, swimming whereby they will be kept afloat in such position as to permit of their learning the proper useof the Briefly described, the invention comprises a main supportgfro'mthe rear andl frontof 'which project adjustable floats or supports, 'together -with adjustable side su po-rts or floats, and if desired, also provided with mea-ns for fastening thel main VLsuppprt to the body of the user.

The inventionresides inx'f'the novell conl struction, combination and arrangement of l .parts as will be hereinafter more specifically described and. then claimed, and in describing the invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings forming al part of this specification,l and. wherein like numerals of reference will be employed to designate like parts throughout thel different views in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of the'ap-' paratus attached 4to vthe swimmer' in the. positionfinwhich it is used. Fi 2 is altop planviewof the device, and, F1g. 3 is a detail' longitudinalv sectional view of a part of the'main support and one of the aux`iliary y invention into practice, I I rovidel a-main support 5, which is provided withan'auxiliary support or float 6 at its rear end and an auxiliaryl support orfiloat 7' er with lateral or side auxiliary' supports 8; Each' of these auxiliary supports,A or floats are" adjustable n with respect to the main support 5. In ons"4 der that' they 'mav be' held securely'in ad- .-justed posit1on,'each auxiliary support is preferably formed from a single- .piece of material 4doubled to provide two stems-i9 arms and limbsin the art the of the which are receivedin keepers 10 carried on are secured in adjusted posiports or floats are preferably formed of cane,

bamboo, or the like, which will have suflicient strength and rigidity to permit of fas-' tening the auxiliary supports or floats thereto, and yet be comparatively light in weight. The auxlhary supports or floats are preferably, 'though not necessarily, formed of cork or like light buoyant material. l

While the apparatus is capable of use by a person slmply lying thereon as shown in F1g. 1 of the drawings, it is desirable to provide means for attaching. the deviceJ to A user. Such means asherein shown consist of straps 12 carrying buckles lll'and attached to keepers 15 carried by the mam support 5 adjacent one edge, and similarly attached straps 16 along the adjacent edg yfor 'engagement with the buckles 14. As s'uch devices are usually used by beginners, the person after assuming his position thereon as shown in Fig. 1, is secured b the straps, so that the entire attention o the beginner may be given to learning the art of swimming instead of any of his attention being directed to an effort to maintain his position onthe device. v

What I aim as new is A,

1. In a swimming apparatus, a main body support, a rear float rejecting from the body support, a front oat projecting from the body support, lateraliloats carried by the body supporuall. of said floats adjustable with re ationto the body support, and` or securmeans carried by the body support ingv same tothe user. l

2. In a swimminjg apparatus, a main body support', a front auxiliary support adjustably connected to the main support, a rear auxiliary support adjustably-conneeted to said main support;4 and auxiliary side supports adjustably-connected to said main support.
