DOUBLE-FACED TEDDY BEAR.
T0 all whom t may concern Be it known that I, LOUIS S. SoHIFFnn, a subject of the King of Hungary, iresiding at New York, inthe county of New York and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Double Faced Teddy Bears, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to a double headed Teddy bear and has as its principal object the provision of a toy in the general shape of the well-known Teddy bear, but which is provided with two faces.
In the accompanying drawing z-Figure 1 is an elevational view of the toy made according to my invention. Fig. 2 is a view similar to Fig. 1 but with the head of the toy turned 180 from what it is in Fig. l. Fig. 3 is a detail sectional view showing the swivel joint in the neck of the toy.
In the separate views the same part is designated by the same reference character.
Referring more particularly to the drawing, l is a body of a toy made to imitate that of a bear while 2-2 andB-B are legs and arms, respectively, which are attached to the body 1 by means of a swivel joint in the usual manner.
4 designates the head of the animal as a whole, the head being attached to the body 1 by means of a swivel joint so that it can turn easily'to the left or right through 180 and sit steady and parallel with the body when facing in either direction. Said swivel joint comprises a central pin or rivet 1() which fastens to the covering of the head and the body at the center point of the neck, the outer covering being reinforced by two disks of cardboard such as 11-11, one on Specification of Letters Patent.

the head and one on the body respectively,
while two washers such as 12-12 are provided on the outside of the disks 11-11 to prevent the rivet from wearing into the disks..
The head et is so designed as to show two faces one of which is designated as 5 and which is that of a bear. The other face carried by the head et is designated as 6 and is that of a person, the face 6 being so arranged that the projections 7-7 which appear as ears when one is viewing the bears face show as tips or points of a jesters cowl when viewing the face 6, which is designated as 8.
If desired, a necktie 9 may be tied about the neck or otherwise fastened under the chin.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is A toy comprising :in combination, a body,
and a head for said body, said, head having two faces thereon looking in opposite directions, one of said faces resembling that of a bear and the covering of said head being arranged to form projections serving as ears for said bears face, the other of said faces resembling that of a person and the cover of said head being arranged around said persons face in the form of a cowl whereby said projections serve likewise to give a clownish effect.
In testimony whereof I aliix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
