To all @1J/0m it may concern Be it known that I, SAMUEL FnUEns'rniN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in DisplayeStands, of which the following is a specification.

One of the objects of my invention is to provide a display stand, of preferably, ornamental design, whereupon to arrange and display jewelry, such as linger' rings or the like in orderly, consecutive sequence, the several rings, or other pieces of jewelry varying in character, each piece bearing some relation to the legend or word that may be borne by the respective supports.

As illustrative of the use of my invention I have shown in the drawings a series of finger ring supports, each support bearing the name, oi' abbreviation of the name, of the months of the year, arranged in consecutive order and the name of the respective stone, or stones or other eharacteristics of the jewelry, contained on the ring, to be emblemateally considered with reference to the respective month; thus the stone emblematically associated with January is the garnet.; with July, it is the ruby, and so on for each of the months of the year, so that the intending purchaser may note at a glance the proper ring or stone to purchase, to be presented as a birthday gift, for instance, for any month of the year.

Another and more specific object of my invention is to generally improve the strueture of display stands, of this general character.

Other and further objects of my invention will become readily apparent from a consideration of the following description when taken in conjunction with the drawing wherein- Figure 1 is a plan view of my display stand. Fig. 2 is a section, taken on line 22, looking in the direction of the arrows. Fig. 3 is a similar section taken through one of the blocks contained in the ring-supporting mechanism. Fig. 4 is a section taken on line i- 4 of Fig. 1. Fig. 5 is a section, similar to Fig. 3, of a modified form of construction.

In all the views the same reference characters are employed to indicate similar parts.

As shown in Fig. 1, my invention is em bodied in 12 blocks or supports, numbered from 1 to 12 consecutively and inclusively.

These are shown as representing a separate block for each support, but it is manifest that the eight blocks of the first row may be made in a continuous structure and the covering divided transversely to resemble blocks or if desired they may be made in separate blocks, and the two blocks on the left and on the right of the transverse central region of the device may be made separately or not as desired.

The supports consist preferably of wooden strips 15 and 1G separated a suilicient dis tance, as at 17, to provide a slot therebetween. As shown in Fig. 3, the

15 and 16 each bear a ring 18 which crosses the transverse slot 17 at two points. The ring is preferably made of metal and is raised somewhat above the front surface ol the

strips

15 and 16. The edges of the

wooden strips

15 and 16 are covered with a proper finishing material such as silk velvet 20, or the like. The velvet is glued to the edges of the wooden strips, as at 21, and is broughtl over into the confines of the rings 1S. A disk 22, preferably of celluloid, contains a ring-receiving slot 23 and bears a legend, such as that to which reference has heretofore been made, preferably the name of the month, above the slot, and the name of the jewel, or other characteristic of ring to be borne by the support, below the slot. The slot 23 is for the introduction of the ring, or other character of jewelry, to be displayed in the device.

A cushion 24C is contained in the slot 17, between the strips 15 and 1G, which consists of a folded piece of fabric, such as silk, .25, containing a depression 2G, in the fold and having its edges glued or pasted to the edges of the strips 15 and 1G and bound down in the slots 17, and stuffed with cotton, or the like, 28. The depression 26, in this cushion registers with the slot 23, so as to form a soft cushion-like recess for the reception of the ring.

If desired, the ring 1S of Fig. 3, may be extended, as shown at 1S of Fig. 5, whereby the transverse metal portion may extend to the longitudinal edges of the

15 and 16, and the disk 22 may be inserted within the ring 1S to cover the inner edges of the fabric 20 in substantially the same manner as shown in Fig. 3.

After the ring supports have been made, substantially in the manner heretofore de scribed, they are mounted upon a frame generally indicated by 30, consisting of an upright 31, provided with overlapping longitudinal supporting strips 32 and 33 upon which the ring supports are properly mounted and by which they are held in place. The entire structure is coveredV with fabric, such as silk velvet 20, or like material, leaving spaces for

37 and 38 unoccupied, to be used to support the cards that are to contain subject matter descriptive of the ewelry, the naine of the merchant, and for advertising purposes.

Thus it will be seen that my device coinprises a convenient, ornamental and very valuable means for displaying jewelry and the like affording valuable information to the prospective customers and operating as a means for aroinoting the sale and display of articles of jewelry in an attractive and convenient manner.

Having described my invention, what I claim with a View and desire to secure by Letters Patent is l. In a linger ring display stand, the conibination of a support; av ring secured above the upper surface of the support; a separate covering overlying said support and ring and having a slot therein, the said slot registering with a slot formed in the support, and a slotted name bearing disk overlying said fabric and within said ring.

A support for a finger-ring displaystand comprising` two strips separated to provide a ring receiving'V opening; a ring secured above the upper surfaces of said strips; a fabric covering overlying said strips and ring and having a slot registering with said opening anda slotted naine-bearing disk overlying said fabric and within saidV ring.
