To all whom it may concern:

Be it'known that I, EDWARD T. OLEGG, of North Harpersfield, in the county of Delaware and State of New York, have inventeda new and improved Bur glar Alarm' Gun; and I dohereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which'will enable others skilled in tlle art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accoim panying drawing forming part of this specification; in which- Figure 1 represents a plan or top view of my llIl-' proved burglar-alarm gun.

1 This invention relates to a new burglar-alarm gun,- which is so constructed that it will be operated when set in motion, and not otherwise.

i The instrument is applicable to buildings, gardens, &c., and may also be placed in money-safes and vaults. -A in the drawing represents the frame or platform of my improved alarm apparatus.

Upon the platform are secured eight, more or less, guns, 0 O, pointing in'several directions.

All the shafts D are connected with each other-by gear-wheels b b, so'that they willturn simultaneously;

From the shafts D project arms 60, whicl'i 'constitute the hammers for discharging the guns;

One of the shafts D carries a ratchet-wheel, (l,:which is lo ckedhy a spring pawl, E.

A main spring, F, is connected with'one of the shafts D. p I I 'VVh'en the arms 0 are swung upvertioally'for set- .ting the alarm, the spring F will be wound r p, and will, as soon as thepawl E is lifted ofl the ratchetwheel, turn all the shafts, -so as to violently -carry the hammers cagainst the nipples of the guns, thereby exploding their charges. i

The pawl -E is made in form of a lever,- which is, by means of a cord,,e,conne cted with the axlev of a wheel, B.

hen-the apparatus is moved the wheel turns and winds up the cord, thereby lifting the pawl oh the ratchet-wheel and discharging the guns.

The apparatus is to be. connected with a door or \vindow,'so as to be moved by the opening of the same with the aforementioned effect.

When, however, the platform is moved,;as aforesaid,'the turning of the shafts will wind up the belts h and elevate the gate, as in fig. 3, tothrow'the guns into battery. I

Having thus described my invention, I claim as uewand desire to secure by Letters Patent l I 1. The burglar-alarm, placed upon wheels, and construoted so that it will be discharged fby'the rotation of the said wheels, asset forth" as herein shown 'au'd'described.
