To all whom it may concern: I

Be it known that I, WALTER Fnnnnicnsou, a citizen of the United States, residing at Porterville, in the county' of Tulare and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hand-Protectors, of which the following is a specifica- This invention relates to improvements in hand protectors and more particularly to hand protectors for butchers use and it comprises two finger stalls united by a slotted metal piece or guide plate and made integral with a back portion to which said metal piece is also secured; the said back portion being reduced in size and prolonged to engage a wrist band by which the device is secured to the wrist of the butcher or opera-' ton The invention. consists in the combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter fully described in the following specification, pointed out in the claims and illustrated in the accompanying drawing which forms a part of said specification and in which Figure 1 is. a front View of my improved hand protector. Fig. 2 is asection on line 2-2 of Fig. 1.

A finger stall 4 and a finger stall 5 are both made integral with the back .1. and are united by a somewhat V-shaped metal piece 6 which is also secured to the back 1 as at 7 and which is provided with a centrally disposed longitudinal slot 8 In cleaning the carcass of an animal, it is customary to hang it up by its hind legs and cut an opening in the upper part of the body big enough to receive the protector, which in this case is worn on the left hand. With the fore finger in stall 4E and the middle finger in stall 5 and the knife in the right hand the operator may use the slotted piece or guide plate as a guide for the knife. The body of the animal lies back of the glove as the glove is passed downward longitudinally of the animal, the palm of the operators gloved hand being turned toward him during the operation. The purpose of the slot 8 being to prevent lateral movement of the knife during the cutting operation.

The main purpose of this invention is to protect the entrails of the carcass during the opening operation.

What is claimed is t- 1. A hand protector including a backportion partly reduced and prolonged to engage a wrist band adapted to be passed about the wrist of the operator, finger stalls made integral with said back portion and a guide plate connecting said finger stalls and back portion. a
