The side wall of the box is made of a plurality of arcuate segmental sections of equa-l` angular extent and of symmetrical formation as regards their meeting edges,`where' by they may be arranged -in any preferred 4manner about the periphery of4 the lbase member. In the present embodiment I'have' illustrated four such sections-'indicated by .65 the portion between the said L reference characters 8, 4, '5 and Gjrespec?a tively, each section subtending 'an' angle of degrees', although it is Vobvious that a greater or' smaller numberrof the sani'ecould be employed with equal facility. Other sections as 4 can be provided with insulating bushings forthe'passage of electric wires, while other sections like 6 can be left bare. In the case of'sections which, like sections 3 and 5, are `.provided with bosses, the face of one of the bevels 15 is preferably substantially parallel with the axis of that boss so that the sections can be cast readily, the parting line of the casting coinciding with the outer surface of the section. The other bevel will make an angle with vthe first bevel equal to the angle subtended by the whole segment, in this`instance 90 degrees, and -the parting line will obviously fall upon this surface (see 15a). It will therefore be apparent that a box made in accordance with my invention cany be cast in finished form and assembled with a minimum ofmachine work, sincethe parting line of the casting will coincide with the outer'l surface of the section. The upper or free edges of thewall segments are formed at similar points with lugs or ears 20, the same being preferably apertured Afor the reception yof screws 21 whereby the co,ver 22 may be secured in place, and the symmetrical arrangement of these lugs will permit the application of the cover irrespective of the arrangement of the wall sections.
In'Fig. 3 I have illustrated a box, the bottom la ofA which is provided with a threaded axial boss 25 adapted for the receptionl of an electrolier or other pendant, the cover being omitted in accordance with the usual practice in such cases. The height of the flange 2 is preferably decreased somewhat intermediate the screw holes 10 in order that the passage through the bossesa and 5al be not impeded thereby, vand this port-ion 'of the box is preferably rounded on as shown at 26 in Fig. 3.

A distributing box for electric conduits, comprising, in combination, a circular plate 'gg having radial threaded apertures spaced at equal distances therearound, .segmental wall sections adapted to t aroundsaid plate and -to subtend t-he angle between adjacent apertures, the ends of said'sections being formed with notches adapted to register with said apertures and to. coperate with the similar notches of adjacent sect-ions in. forming screw-receiving apertures, and screws received in saidaperturesandhaving heads bearing against the adjacent outer walls of said sectionslwliereby saidsections are secured together and tofsaid circular plate.
