Description
ANTON ZOCHLING, 0F BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
COATING COMPOUND FOR RAZOR-STROPS.
No Drawing.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 9, 1913.
Application filed September 10, 1913. Serial No. 789,058.-
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ANTON ZOCHLING, a citizen of the United States, residing at Brooklyn, county of Kings, and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Coating Compound for Razor- Strops, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a novel coating compound which is adapted to be applied to razor shops, for the purpose of increasing their efiiciency during honing while at the same timeimparting a superior and lasting pliability to the strops.
In carrying out my invention, I take about eight parts of finely pulverized rottenstone and mix it thoroughly in a perfectly dry state with about two parts of finely powdered emery. I next melt about eight parts of paraffin and stir the above mixture of rottenstone and emery into the same, until the constituents of said mixture are uniformly distributed within the resulting mass. The latter is then allowed to partly cool off whereupon it is introduced into molds of the desired shape. After the mass has been allowed to properly set within said molds, the tablets thus formed are removed therefrom. These tablets will possess a waxy consistency and are thus Well adapted, by being rubbed over the strop to impart to it a highly eflicient honing coating. This coating will not only serve to constitute an abrading surface of superior quality but it will also serve to preserve the desirable pliability and suppleness of the strop.
With the composition formed as described, the emery and rotten stone embedded in the paraflin carrier, will effectively complement and coact with each other. The emery will exert a strong grinding action, which however if unchecked, would be too pronounced and would be apt to scratch or mark the blade. Hence I have added to the comparatively small quantity of the emery, a comparatively large quantity of rotten stone which mellows t .e grinding effect of the emery, while at the same time giving a desirable body or consistency to the mixture besides acting as .i polishing medium.
I claim:
1. A coating compound for razor strops composed of powdered rottenstone, powdered emery and paraflin.
2. A coating compound for razor strops composed of about eight parts of pulverized rotten stone, two parts of powdered emery and eight parts of parafiin.
3. Method of forming a coating compound for razor st-rops, which consists in mixing powdered rottenstone with powdered emery. melting paraflin, stirring the mixture of powdered rottenstone and emery into the paraflin, and molding the resultantmass into tablets.
