IMPROVEMENT IN BARK-MJL LS.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same Toallwhom it'mayxcoacern; Be it known that L'GHAMES KORN,-of \Vnrtsboronghfln the county of Sullivanand State of New York have invented anew and improved Bark-Mill;
and do vhereloy declare that the, following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others i skilled in the art to make and use ,the same, reference being bad. to the accompanying drawing forming part of this specification.
Figure l representsa, vertical central-section of my improved bark-mill.
Figure 2 is a horizontul sec tion of the same.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding My invention relates to bark-mills, and my object is to introduce, to the public certain improvements thereon.
I will firstdscribe these improvements in connee tion with all that may be necessary to their full nntlerstanding,and then clearly point 111160101113 inmy claim. it
The inventiori consists 'Ti narranging, under the ordinary mill A, secondary grinding aparatus, which is in form of.-.a.cylinder, B, fastened in suitable mannerto the upper shell A. a l e The grindingrcylinder 1*, in the latter, is arranged in the ordinary or suitable manner. It is revolved to grind the bark, but will scarcely ever grind it all sufticiently fine.
"Those parts that are fine enough drop" upon a rotating sieve,-O, which is arranged on thedriving-shaft- G, in the lower shell B, and pass through the meshes of the same.
The coarse parts, however, are crushed between two sharp-toothed rings, D E, of which the former is' stationery, while the latter is fastened to the sieve and revolves with the same. Thereby the bark is entirely ground.
The ring D is the degree of fineness to which the bark is ground.
For this purpose, there'are ears fa a on said ring, anll screws b b for raising or lowering the same.
' Bjbther horizontal screws, thering 1) may be adjusted-concentric with the ring E.
Having thus described my invention,
I claim as new and desire to Patent- 1. The combination, in the'ordinary bark-mill A F G, of cylinder B, and upwardly-convex rotating sieve G, to separate the coarse from the fine bark, and transfer the former over its annular edge, as described.
seive O, of the sharp-toothed grinding-rings DE, arranged and operating as described.
