I PROCESS OF PRODUCING LINCBUSTA, LINOLEU'M, OR LIKE DIAPEBEID-LIKE CLOTH.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. 7, 1913.
Application filed September 22-, 1909. Serial No. 519,021.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CARL WERNER, a subject of the German Emperor, and resident of Bremen, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Processes of Producing Lincrusta, Linoleum, or the like Diapered-Like Cloth, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an improved process of diapering and embossing lincrusta, linoleum or the like so as to produce onthe show side thereof the natural effect or appearance of cloth. In this connection the invention has in view the production of a dull, lusterless show side for the base, quite similar to the appearance of cloth.
In the accompanying drawing, the single figure is a sectional view schematically illustrating the improved process.
The process is quite simple and essentially consists in placing on the 'lincrusta or other base, upon the show side thereof, linen or any other cloth, and upon the latter a diapering tissue, such as jute or the like to forma pattern base, then pressing or rolling the same upon the linoleum and afterward pulling off both tissues from the base, thus producing the result above referred to. The
pressing of only one diapering tissue u on the base would not secure the same e' ect at all for the reason that in pulling off a single diapering tissue from the base the surface of the latter is torn more or less and consequently prevents securing the results accomplished by this rocess, and furthermore, ifthe tissue itsel is quite light and of the fibrous nature of jute, it would .be impossible to neatly and cleanly pull the same off. It is therefore important to the successful carrying out of the invention that the combination of the two tissues be utilized, and it will also be understood that the lincrust'a or other material to be diapered can be produced in various colors.-
Gnono ERNST.
By way of illustrating the foregoing, ma
erence is made to the figure of the drawing wherein the letter a designates the linoleum,
lincrusta, or equivalent material to be worked, and which maybe provided on the underside thereof with a web or other fabric a. The linoleum or equivalent material a is fed to the rolls b-b together with a 4 breadth of linen or similar cloth, desi by the letter I), and also with a brea th of jute' 0 arranged over the linen facing b. After passing through the rolls, both the cloth I) and the jute 0 are removed from the surface of the base material a.
What I claim is:
l. The hereindescribed process of diapering and embossin linoleum or like material in a cloth-like e ect, which consists in first placing a cloth facing over the show-side of a base of the linoleum or like material, then arranging a diapering tissue on the cloth facing and simultaneously subjecting ated the two to pressure upon the said show-side of the base, and finally stripping the superimposed cloth facing and tissue from the surface of the base.
2. The hereindescribed process of diapering and embossing in the same operation, linoleum or equivalent material in a clothlike effect, which consists in placing a facin of linen over the show-side of the base 0 the, linoleum or like material, then arranging a diaperingtissue of jute on the linen facing and simultaneously subjecting the two to pressure upon the said show-side of the base, and subsequently stripping the superimposed linen and jute from the surface of the base.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two witnesses.
