Be it known that l, ELDninfon R. JOHNSON, a citizen of the United States, anda resident of the city of Philadelphia, State of -llfennj Sylvania have invented certain nevir and useful lmprovements in Sounrl-Conveying rlubes for Talking-Machines, ofi-Which the following is a specification.
The main objects of this invention are ,to provide in a talking machine simple and eflicient means for supporting a sound box and for conveying sound `waves therefrom; and to provide other improvements, as will appear hereinafter ln the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a side elevation of a talking machine constructed in accordance with this invention; Fig. 2 a'fragmentary top plan view partly in section of a portion of the same; and Fig. 3 an enlarged fragmentary rear end elevation of a portion of the same. y
lleferring to the drawings, one embodiment of this invention comprises the .usual casing or cabinet l, containing "the usual talking machine motor. Mounted upon the casing l is the usual turntable 2, which is actuated by the motor in the casing, and over 'which is mounted a tubularradial sound box arm or member il, to one cud of `which is attached the usual sound'boii 5 communicating therewith.

In a sound reproducing machine, a support, a sound conveying arm comprising a vertical portion at said support, a portion for conducting sound'toward said supportv and a port-ion telescoped with said vertical portion and rictionally engaged therewith for conveying sound away from said support, and means for mounting said arm on said support to swing horizontally and vertically.

In a sound reproducing machine, a support, a sound conducting arm mounted thereon to swing vertically and horizontally, said arm consisting of a portion extending upwardly and then horizontally from said support and a second portion extending downwardly and then horizontally from said support, said portions being firmly connected with each other.
20. In a sound reproducing machine, a support, a sound conducting arm mounted thereon to swing vertically and horizontally,
said arm consisting of a portion extending upwardly and then horizontally from said support and .a second ortion extending downwardly and then iiorizontally from said support and said portionsbeing telescoped and frictionally engaged with each other.
21. In a sound reproducing machine, the combination with a support, of a 'sound conduit pivoted intermediate of its length and comprising relatively movable portions frictionally connected to form an integral substantially rigid structure arranged to rock as a whole on said ivot.

In a sound repro ucing machine, the combination with a support, of a sound conduit pivoted intermediate of its length and comprising relatively adjustable ortions frictionally connected to form an integral 'substantially rigid structure and arranged to be relatively shifted into different intersecting planes, and arranged to rock as a whole on said pivot independently of their respective positions.
23. Ina sound reproducing machine, a sound conveyer comprising horizontally disposedsections, each having a portion op-v positely turned substantially normal thereto and firmly joined in telescopic relation, a support for said sound conveyer, and means providing an axis of oscillation for said conveyer at the telescoped junction thus formed.
