rated the same device adjustably connected to the stick. in these figures 6 represents a 'slidable casing which carries loops 7, in. which the pad of rubber strips at are inserted, said loops holding the ends of the pad and the inner face of the pad being sup plied with a metal base 9, the rubber strips, the base 9 and the loops 7 being all connected by means of suitable rivets 10, Which also pass through the Washers l and at the place of the screws 3. The casing 6 may also be provided With a set screw 8 so that it can be locked in as different position upon the picker stick.
In Fig. 5, l have shown the blank from which the holder is constructed and which consists of a body portion A cut. out at the ends and also provided in said cut-out portion with short longitudinal slots thereby producing end flaps B. At each end and upon opposite sides of the end flaps are left the arms C. By folding the body portion as indicated the dotted lines and overlapping the flaps B, the casing 6 is produced, and by bending the arms C at the dotted lines so that the arms at one end of the blank Will lap over those at the opposite end the flaps 'Z are formed. But it Will be understoodthat the construction of the friction core or the picker is the same no matter What means may be employed for securing it to the picker stick. I do not desire to be limited to any pr similar means although the form shown in Figs. 3 and 4: has us many advantages and is my preferred form of holder Where it is desirable to attach the picker to the stick so that it may be readily adjustable along the stick.
What l claim is l. picker consisting of a plurality of .ber strips, said strips being centrally cut ao'form a central opening, and a cylin cal core of vulcanized canvas and rubber ted to fit snugly Within said opening. oiclrer consisting of a plurality of strips centrally cut-out, metal Washo two of said strips and the ends of the strips, and a core formed of a canvas strip coated With rubber, rolled inco the form of a cylinder and vulcanized, the ends of said core being flush with the outer and inner faces respectively said loops, said strips being centrally cutof the picker. out, and a core of canvas and rubber snugly 3. The combination with a picker stick of fitting said central cut out portion. a metal casing slidably fittlng said stick, WILLROD A. BRULE.
loops carried by the casing, a picker formed Witnesses: of elastlc strips, laid one upon the other, FRANK JARVIS, and the end portions of which are secured in WILLIAM JARVIS.
