This invention relates to a corner piece for window sashes to facilitate cleaning of the glass in the corners, and has for its object to provide a simple, inexpensive and efficient device, which is applied to the glass when set and is retained in its operative a position as will. be described.

I The corner pieces may be made of substantially thin material, such as sheet metal, and are shaped to lie flat against the glass pane, so that when the glass pane is set in the sash, the corner pieces are secured in permanent relation to the glass pane and its sash by the means employed to secure the g1ass-pane to the sash.

These and other features of this invention will be pointed out in the claims at the end of this specification.

Referring to the drawing, a represents a window sash of any-suitable or desired construction and provided with one or more panes b of glass, which are secured to the sash by putty c in the usual manner. 1 In accordance with this invention, each pane of glass is provided with a corner piece (I for each corner, each of which corner pieces is designed to cover the corner of the glass and thereby enable the exposed portion of the glass to be kept clean with the least possible labor. 5 the corner piece is provided with a. lip or tion of one form of window provided with member adapted to engage the'edge of the glass.

To facilitate application of the corner pieces and to reduce the cost of the same and also of applying them to the window,I may prefer to make the corner piece after the manner shown in Fig. 4, so that the corner piece can be applied to either side of the glass pane. To this end the corner piece (Z shown in Fig. 4., is provided with a body portion, which engages the face or sideof the glass, said body portion having two edges 10, 12, at right angles to each other and with a curved front edge 13. One edge, as 10, is provided with a projection 11 extending from the outer end of the edge 10 toward but not to the. inner end thereof, and

the edge 12 is provided with a like projection 16, which extends from the inner end of the edge 12 toward the outer end thereof.

The projections 14, 16 are designed to be bent substantially at right angles to the corner piece in the same direction, so that when the corner piece is applied to one side of the glass pane, they will engage the meeting edges of the glass, and said projections are located as described, so that when a duplicate corner piece is applied to the opposite face of the glass pane, the projections on the duplicate will register with the unflanged portions of the edges, as clearly represented in Figs. 2 and 3. The corner pieces can thus be applied to the glass pane before the latter is set in its frame or-sash, andare retained in fixed or permanent relation to the sash by the means employed to secure the glass tothe sash, namely, the bead c of putty and the lip 21 on the sash.

I prefer to make the corner piece as represented in Fig. 4, but it is not desired to limit the invention in this respect, as the corner pieces may be made in other forms,- as for instance, in Fig. 7, two corner pieces are shown as made from a single piece of sheet metal or other thin material and folded on the lines 23, 24, to form one projection 25 to engage one edge of-the glass, the other projection 26 belng formed on one half of the blank.

In operation with the device shown in Fig. 7, the blank is folded on the l1nes 23, 24, at one edge of the glass and the pro ectioii 26 is folded over the other edge of the glass as represented in Figs. 5 and 6.
