Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed September 17, 1912. Serial No.-720,889.' I
Patented May 2c, 1913.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, NAZAIRE E. LAROCQUE, a citizen-of the United States, residing at Worcester, in the county of Worcester and State of Massachusetts, haveinvented new and useful Improvements in Tooth-Brush Attachments, of which the following is a specification.
Thegeneral object of this invention isthe provision of an attachment for a tooth brush which comprises a. container hingedly connected thereto in a novel manner and adapted to contain a powder, or liquid, or both, which is deposited upon the brush proper whenever desired, and to this end the invention consists of certain constructions, arrangements, and combinations of devices which will be fully described hereinafter and then pointed out in the appended claims.
In carrying out theobject of the invention generally stated above, it will be understood, of course, that the essential features thereof are susceptible of changes in details and structural arrangements, one preferred and practical embodiment being shown in the accompanying drawing, wherein.
Figure 1 is a side elevation of a tooth brush showing the invention applied thereto and in a position to deposit a powder or liquid upon the brush. Fig. 2- is a plan view, showing the container extended. Fig. 3 is a vertical longitudinal sectional View.
Referring more particularly to the accom panying drawings in which like reference characters designate similar parts, 5 indicates a. tooth brush of any ordinary well known construction, said brush having secured to the end of its handle a longitudinally extending U-shaped clip 6 the arms of which engage both sides of the handle and are secured thereto by means of the fastener 7.
The outer or closed end of the clip 6 is spaced a slight distance from the end of the handle to provide an opening for the reception of a ortion of the swinging brackctS, said ,brac :et comprising a pair of arms 9 which extend longitudinally of the handle .of the brush and which are provided'at their free ends with the pivot eyes 10. The eyes 10 are adapted to receive the flared ends 11 of the semi-circular'bands 12 which combine to form a holding element for the container 13. The latter is preferably made of glass and provided intermediate the ends thereof with a partition 14 for dividing the same into compartments 15 and 16 one'of which is adapted to contain a liquid and has a. screw capped closure 17 while. the other compartmentis adapted to contain a powder, the closure in the latter compartment including a small swinging door 18 which 1s pivoted to said closure and adapted-to be moved to a position whereby the substance within the-compartment: may be deposited on the brush 5'through an opening m said 0 osure.
From the foregoing description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing,
it will be obvious'that the invention conthereof, a holding element including semi-' circular bands rotatably mounted in said It is to be noted that the holdingelement comprising the band 12 encircles the.
brr .ket, and a container supported in said holding element and adapted to be swung to a position for depositing a cleaning substance upon said brush.
2. The combination with a tooth brush, of a bracket hingedly connected to the handle thereof, a holding element including semicircular hands rotatably mounted in said bracket, a container supported in said hold ing element and adapted to be swung to a position for depositing a cleaning substance upon said brush, said container havlng a pluralityof compartments thereimff In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
