Letters Patent No. 106,216, dated August 9, 1870.
IMPROVEMENT IN' APPARATUS FOR CARRYING GRAIN, PLASTER, 8m., FOR SOWING.
The Sclledule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same To all whom it may con-cern:
Be it known that T, ORSON W. SMITH, of Flint city, inthe count-y of Genesee and State of Michigan, have invented'a new and Improved Mode ot' Garrying Grain, Plast-erhor anything to be sown or planted frein the hand, called a seed, grain, -and plastercarrier; and I do hereby declare' that the fol-lowing is"afull, cle-ar, and exact description of the construction and operation oi'- the same, reference being had to the annexed drawing making a part of this spcification.

A A represent the sack, the top of which is bound onto the hoop or rim, B B, for holding Ithe grain or' substance to be planted or sown.
B B represent the hoop or rim, bent in suchaman ner as t lit the form of ,the person, and sustain and hold open the mouth of .the sack. v n' A C 0 represent a strap or belt, with one end attached to the front end of the hoop or rim, and designed to pass around the neck, with the other'end attached to the opposite side of the rim, in such a place as shall cause it to form a good and perfect support.
, D D represent a strap or belt,.attached to either end l ofthe rim B B, designed to pass aronnd the waist of the person, for the purpose of keeping the carrier in position. f
f lhemanner of using thecnrrier will be readily seen. When to be sown or planted from with one hand, it will be adjusted on the side or hip of the person. In case it should be desirable to use both hands, it can readily be adjusted to the front of the person, bringing the mouth of the carrier in such position as to give easy access to either hand.
