Such feed rollers, when in use, be come more or less sticky so that the skins or hides adhere thereto ami are apt to be curried entirely around the roller, and it is to overcome this objection that the present invention has been (lQ'i/lSlKl,
"no invention comprises a novel and improved device for applying a lubricant to the surface of the roller, whereby *the shins QR hides effectually prevented from sticking thereon. A scraper is also provided which positively separates "the skins and hizles'froni the roller if they should happen to slick even after the roller is lubricated.
in order that the invention may be better understood, reference is land to the accompanying dinning in which Figure l is an end View of the feed rolle showing the invention applied thereto. Fig. 2 is u perspective view of the device removed femn the roilci:

and is in contact with the surface of the oller. The pan contains a lubricant which is absorbed by the swab and applied thereby to the surface of the roller, the swab lightly touching the vlatter. The pan is elongated and extends parallel to the roller, and the swab extends throughout vthe entire length or the latter-so that the lubricant is applied to all parts of the roller surface. One .end of the pan 10 has a lateral extension 12 through in the corners.
supporting the pan 10: To the pan are secured brackets having upstanding portions tions of the bracket arms 8, the fastening bolts 1? passing through the latter and through the slots 16 and being provided with securing nuts 18. The slots 16 permit vertical adjustment of the pan and thus euoble the latter to be adjusted relative to. the
sition with respect to the-roller.
The lubricant applied to the roller 5 prevenls the skins or hides from sficking thereon, end if the lubricant should become scant and fail to prevent sticking of the skins or hides, they will be separated from the roller by the blade 9. I
The device herein described is simple in construction, efiicicnt in operatioru and it can be easily applied to the roller, no change in the mounting thereof being necessary.
By providing. the pan with the extension 12 ancl leavin a portion of the same open the pan is rcn cred readily accessible for the purpose of filling the pan, and this can be done without removing the swab.
I claim:
1. The combination with a feed-roller, of a longitudinal lubricant pan extending arallel thereto and containing a swab WIlCh is in contact with the surface of the roller,
PI'OVldQCl witluvertical slots 16. These brackets are bolted to. the upstanding p01 roller 5 to bring the swab 11 in proper powhich is located adjacent tothe correspondf The following means arev procided for I a longitudinallubricant pan extending para longitudinal lubricant pan extending parsaid pan having a lateral extension at one 1 end spaced from the vorresponding end of the roller'and provided with a filler opening.
2. The combination with a feed roller, of
allel thereto and eontaininga swab which is in contact with the surface of the roller. a sup ort for the pan, slotted bracket arms exten ing from the pan, and fiastening means passing through the support and the slots of the bracket arm.
The combination with a -feed roller, of a longitudinal lubricant pan extending arallel thereto and containing a svab wiiich is in contact with the surface of the roller, anda longitudinal scraper blade extending parallel to the roller in close proximity thereto above the swab.
In testimony whereof l. aliix my signature 1r}. presence of two witnesses.
