Description
B. 13188. DRINK DISPENSING APPARATUS.

' ITN SE my E NTOR I I ATTORNEYS COLUMBIA PLANOORAPH CO WASHINGTON, D- C.
' UNITED STATES PATENT orFioE.
BENNI BISS, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
DRINK-D ISPENSING APPARATUS.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, BENNI BISS, a subject of the King of Hungary, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Drink- Dispensing Apparatus, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
This invention relates to a drink dispensing apparatus, and the object of my invention is to provide a novel apparatus by which a syrup or flavoring solution can be co-mingled with a carbonated water and the water and syrup dispensed at the same time, just as though the water and syrup had been previously mixed before being placed in the apparatus.
I attain the above object by an apparatus that permits of a syrup being kept in a receptacle or reservoir entirely independent of the carbonated water or other liquid with which it is to be mixed. By being able to co-mingle the syrup and carbonated water in the apparatus, prior to dispensing the same, I save considerable time of an attendant of such an apparatus, besides perserving the flavor qualities of a syrup by maintaining it in a reservoir independent of the liquid in which it is to be placed.
The invention will be hereinafter specifically described and then claimed, and refer ence will now be had to the drawing showing a side elevation of an apparatus in accordance with this invention.
The apparatus comprises a tank or receptacle 1 adapted to contain a carbonated water, as soda water. The tank 1 is provided with an outlet pipe 2 and said pipe has a faucet or spigot 8 whereby soda water can be drawn off from the tank 1. The outlet pipe 2 also has connections 4 whereby the tank 1 can be re-charged.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed November 6, 1912.
Patented Apr. 8, 1913. Serial No. 729,893.,
Connected to the outlet pipe 2 is a branch pipe 5 which is provided with valves 6. The valves 6 are of the ordinary and well known type and the valve stems 7 of said valves are provided with cranks 8 that are pivotally connected to an operating lever 9, whereby said valves can be opened and closed in unison.
Located adjacent to thebranch pipe 5 is a syrup reservoir 10 provided with a down pipe 11 that is connected to the branch pipe 5. The down pipe 11 has a valve 12 of the ordinary and well known type. Between the valve 12 and the pipe 5 there is a chamber 14 which serves to receive a portion of syrup. By opening the valve 12, a quantity of syrup from the reservoir 10 can flow into the chamber 14. By then opening the valves 6, the soda water from the tank 1 co-mingles with the syrup and both are discharged from the nozzle end 13 of the branch pipe 5.
What I claim is A drink dispensing apparatus comprising a tank and an outlet pipe communicating therewith and having its free end provided with a spigot, a charging means communicating with said out-let pipe intermediate its ends, a branch pipe projecting from said outlet pipe intermediate the ends of the latter and provided with a nozzle, spaced valves interposed in said branch pipe, a lever connecting said valves for operating them in unison, a syrup reservoir, a down-pipe leading from said syrup reservoir to that portion of the pipe between said valves, and a valve mounted in said down pipe for controlling the discharge from said reservoir.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
