Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom- 25 may concern:

Be it known that we, Ossau P. HoLLowAY and Howano RANDOLPH, citizens of the United States, residing at Dayton, in the county of Montgomery and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful lmprovements in Panoramas; and we do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification- This invention relates to new and useful improvements in amusement devices suchl as panoramas.

The object of the invention is to provide a device of this type for the amusement of children and which is simple in construetion and may be easily assembled.

Referring to the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a top plan view of the device with parts broken away; Fig. 2 is a section on the line cal-a of Fig. 1; Fig. 3 is a side elevation of the support and actuating mechanism for the track, the track being shown in section; F ig. 4 is a partial elevation of the same; Fig. 5 is a detail view of the support for the track.

Referring more particularly to the drawings, 1 represents a. center pole which supports the center of a tent top or canopy 2. The tent canopy 2 is circular in form and the circumference or outer edges thereof are supported by a pluralit-y of poles 3. EX- tending from said outer edges to the ground is a plurality of guy ropes 4 which hold the tent firmly in position. Extending radially from the tops of the poles 3 are projections 5 which support an annular track 6. rPhe track 6 is provided with openings 7 which are larger at one end, thereby permitting said track to be disengaged from the projections 5. The said track 6 is further provided with a flange 8, and mounted on said track is an annular rotating ring 9 provided with a horizontal portion 10 between which and the iange 8 rollers 11 are mounted. The rollers 11 permit the ring 9 to revolve freely on the track. The track 6 is further provided with guide rollers 12 mounted on extensions 13 and which are instrumental in alining the ring 9 with the track.

Depending from the lower edge of the ring 9 is a continuous curtain 14, the inner side of which is provided with a plurality of pictures, fanciful, comical or educational in their character. The curtain 14 extends approximately the height of the poles 3 and forms the outside wall of the tent. rlhe pictures on the curtain are adapted to be viewed from the inside of the tent and, to facilitate this, a screen 15 having an opening 16 may be provided. The said screen is mounted between two of the poles 3 and is attached thereto by any suitable means. The curtain 14 being continuous, access may be had by elevating the said curtain, or the said curtain may be provided with an opening formed by overlapping ends. The said curtain may be rotated manually to permit the changing scenes or pictures to be viewed through the opening 16, or the following means maybe provided for rotating said curtain: rfthe ring 9 is provided with openings 17 adapted to receive the teeth of a gear 18. The gear 18 is mounted on a vertical shaft 19 having bearings in the projection 5 on one of the poles 3 and in a projection 20 on one of the poles 3. The shaft 19 carries a bevel gear 21 which meshes with a bevel gear 22 mounted on a shaft 23 journaled in the pole 3. The shaft 23 is provided with a crank 24. Rotation of said crank will revolve the ring 9 around the track 6 thereby permitting the various pictures on the curtain to pass successively behind the opening 16.

lVhile we have described with much particularity the various structural details of our apparatus in orderI to conform to the requirements of the statute appertaining to the grant of Letters Patent, we do not wish to unnecessarily limit ourselves to every detail so described, for it is obvious thatalterations and changes may be made without departing from the spirit of our invention and within the scope of the claim.
