AIRHUMIDOR.
Specification'of Letters Patent.
Patented Mar. 25, 1 913.
Application filed. September 3, 1912. Serial No. 718,179.
To all whom it may concern: 7
Be itknown that I, JAMES W. RAHN, citizen of the United States, residing at Temple, in the county of Berks and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Air-Humidors,
of Which the following is a specification.
This invention relates toimprovements in air humidors and the object in the present.
securing the device against displacement on the top of the radiator.
The device will insure the proper amount-- of moisture so that the air heated by the radiator will not be objectionably dry.
The invention is more fully described in the following specification and clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which I Figure 1 is a side elevation of my device in position on the radiator, partly in section. Fig. 2 is a plan view thereof, with a portion of the cover removed. Fig. 3 is a sectional view on line 33 of Fig. 1.
The numeral 1 designates the body which is rectangular in form and 2 the cover therefor. The body is provided with a series of air tubes 3 extending from front to rear, and through the front and rear vertical walls, thus permitting a free circulationof air at all times. body I attach a pair of longitudinal supportin legs 4 adapted to rest on the top of the ra iator 5 and to keep the body free of contact. I I Along the under side of the body, at its center, I provide a guideway 6 .and in this guideway is located one or more slidably adjustable attaching devices for securing the device to the radiator. The securing devices comprise a flat body portion 7 adapted to slide in the uideway and a pair of metal bands 8, of exible material, by means of which they may be secured to the upper ex- Onthe under side of the tremity of one of the radiator coils by bendmg the bands around a projection 9 on the radiator coil.
The cover 2 is made to fit loosely on the body port on and it is formed with a series of perforations 10 to permit the exit of the molsture and also with a relatively larger perforation or opening 11, near each end, to permit handling the cover while removing it.
It is evident that, when the body is filled or partly filled with water and placed on the radiator, the moisture from the water will escape through the perforated cover and overcome the objectionable dryness of the atmosphere due to the heating action of the radiator, while the air tubes will permit a and tend to keep'its temperature reduced and prevent too rapid evaporation.
The device is applicable to steam or hot water radiators, or it may be arranged for use on a heating stove.
It is evidentthat the construction illustrated may be modified without departing from the spirit of the invention and I do not desire to limit myself to the'exact form and shape shown, but
What I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is l. The combination of a radiator comprising a seriesofvertical sections, with an air humidor-comprising a rectangular, 0blong body, a pair of longitudinal supporting legs on its under side adapted to rest on the radiator sections, a central, longitudinal guideway on its under side, a plurality of slidably adjustable attaching devices, .each
of said devices comprising a flat b'ody portion located within the guideway and a pair of flexible, .metal. bands for securing the devices to the tops of the radiator sections; and a coverfor the body, said cover having a series of perforations, and .a hand engaging opening near each end.
. 2. The combination of a radiator comprising a series of vertical sections, with an air humidor comprising a rectangular, oblon body, a pair of longitudinal lates secure to the under side of the bo y, each plate having its outer edge bent to forma supporting leg adapted to rest on the top of the radiator sections, and its inneredge bent to circulation of air through the water body form one side of a longitudinal guideway, forations, and a single relatively large pera plurality of slidably adjustable attaching foration near each end. 10 devices, each of saiddevices comprising a flat In testimony whereof I affix my signature body portion located Within and adapted to in presence of two Witnesses.
slide in the guideway, and a pair of flexible, JAMES W. RAHN. metal bands for securing the devices to the Witnesses: tops of the radiator sections, and'a cover for ED. A. KELLY,
the body, said cover having a series of per- J. OR. KELLY.
