.Be it known that- I, Hilmar B. DEcIrs, a citizen of the United States, residing at Boise, in the county of Ada and State of Idaho, have invented new and useful linprovements in Ice-Creepers, of which the following is a specification.

The invention relates to and more particularly to creeping foot wear.

The primary object of the invention is the provision of a device of this character in which the foot of the wearer will be prevented from slipping upon ice, sleet or Vwet surfaces when treading thereon, thus assuring a positive footing on such surfaces, thereby avoiding accidents resulting from falls, the device being especially useful to workmen in artificial ice plants, log camps, breweries, and shingle roofers, as well as pedestrians.-

Another object of the invention is the provision of a device of this nature which enables a person to walk upon slippery surfaces and especially in hazardous places.

The device is adapted to be applied to the shoe ofthe wearer and may be made in a variety of sizes so as lo be worn by grown persons, children or youths.

A further object of the invention is the provision of a device of this character which is simple in construction, readily and easily applied to the foot or shoe of the wearer, reliable and etlicient in its purpose, strong, durable and inexpensive in manufacture.

lith these and other objects in view the invention consists in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts. as will be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and pointed out in the claim hereunto appended.

In the drawings, Figure l is a perspective view of a device, the same being especially useful for roofers. Fig. 2 is a bottom plan view thereof. Fig. 3 is a vertical longitudinal section view through the device.

Similar reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views in the drawings.

In Figs. l, 2 and 3 of the drawings there creeping devices the class of lee is shown an anti-creeping device which comprises a sole i8, instep 19 and a hollow heel 20. llising from the sole at the toe portion thereof and suitably fixed thereto is a tip 2l in which is adapted to be engaged the toe portion of the shoe of the wearer, while tixed to and rising from the heel end of the device is a heel boxing Q9., which receives the heelv portion of a shoe, the heel proper thereof being engaged in the hollow heel Q0. Fixed to and extending forwardly from the heel boxing 22 is a paii` of fastening straps Q3, one of which carries the usual buckle 2l to be engaged by the other strap and in this manner the device is fastened about the shoe when on the wearer. Fixed to the inner side edge of the sole 1S, instep 19 and a port-ion of the heel 20 and rising therefrom, is a side section Q5, in which are fixed a plurality of spikes or pins QG, while fixed in the sole i8 and heel 20 are a plurality of spikes or pins QT similar to the spikes or pins 26, thus it being seen that when treading upon a slippery surface the pins or spikes on the sole and heel of the device will prevent the slipping of the wearer. New when the device is thrown sidewise the side section carrying the pins Q6 will grip the slippery surface to prevent the slipping of the foot of the wearer, this position being assumed by roofers when at work. It will be apparent that the wearer will be assured a positive footing when walking, standing or kneeling upon a slippery surface.

lllhat is claimed is:

A device of the class described comprising a sole port-ion having a tip instep and heel, spikes mounted in and project-ing outwardly from the heel and sole portion, a side section tixed to the outer side edge of the sole, instep and heel and spikes mounted in and projecting outwardly from the said side sections throughout the area thereof.
